When a plastic replacement joint breaks inside your thumb it's surprisingly painful and easily makes the idea of taking a chainsaw to your hand seem like a pleasant alternative.
So when it happens again, a few weeks later, you wish you'd chosen the chainsaw.

(Not that recovering from having all the bones in your thumb sawn up and fused is NICE. But it's not as awesomely painful)

Tomorrow morning at southlands DSU, I gather it's done under local anesthetic and they use an xray machine to guide the needle in. They said there will be 3 injections to do.

Ah ok, i hope it goes well for you! I've had injections with x-rays, theyre fine. I hope they give you a lovely nurse to hold your hand!! I'm seeing my consultant tomorrow too, so it seems to be a day for it!!

Pain my arse - try having your gonads re-arranged with a vasectomy :p

Sorry to hear your having chemo fella you must be feeling a bit rough with that.

Thanks, I actually finished the course in September but was very tired and a real s**t to live with. However, that and the surgery seem to have done the trick for now so it's CT scans etc every 3 months and 'fingers crossed'. Sounds a bit morbid perhaps but just hoping I'll last until Falmer and my 50 years of watching the stripes.

It all sounds like it's going well at the moment fella so fingers crossed it stays that way for you. Hopefully one day i'll bump into you at Falmer as we cheer on the stripes. :albion2:

Must have been the vasectomy for me when the nice nurse and me were discussing kids (not sure why given what was happening) and the doctor started on the second when and the anaesthetic had not quite set in.

Thankfully Nursey got the message as well when I yelped and said stop

This is spooky, exactly the same thing happened to me when I had mine done at Southlands Hospital. Nurse chatting to me to (about kids) Started on the second and I nearly hit the ceiling, another jab of anaesthetic only dulled it a bit, it still bloody hurt. We're not the same person are we? I had mine done in 1986.

My ex husband had it done. It's done under a local and then you suffer bruising pain afterwards. You don't have to take any time off work so if you think that's pain, then you're a wimp. :safeway2:

Thats the injections done, Turned out it was the facet joints they were injecting with steroids and allthough they used a local anaesthetic it was still a painful experience. gotta go back in 2 weeks for either some more of the same or an epidural right into spinal canal with more steroids.

Good luck with your trip to the consultant BAG hope all goes well.

Sjaastad Syndrome (also known as an unrelenting and fast firing migraine, that feels like an ice-pick has crashed through your skull and out through your neck!), that's a good one, just above sunburnt irradiated psoriasis (ooooh aren't I using big words today - must be omega 3 in my tea). The six month headache was so bad they had me in for a brain scan. Took them three days to locate my brain and then just filled me up with a barrel of drugs.
Childbirth wasn't too bad compared with the above. But having a wee afterwards was MURDER!

A mate was describing his vasectomy the other day, and told me he was awake for it - but got injections straight into his testicles.

Ahem. Now I don't know if that's even comfortable to think about, so actually having needles put into you there would discourage me enough from ever having THAT particular op.

I understand it was an alternative that he chose, instead of being put under. ???

What about the LUNATICS who go through all of that and then decide to have it REVERSED 10 years later
