I didn't go, but a mate of mine reckons any Guns N Roses show this year - he's been to two and said both were embarrassing

Most people have an amazing story of their first ever concert, sneaked out of a bedroom window, crept in a fire exit and watched the Clash and their musical outlook was changed forever.

Unfortunately I chose Bananarama at Wembley Arena and I'lll never ever be able to change that.

UB 40 and AC/DC

Ub40, I went with a girlfriend, I was loved up and it was her idea. Never have I seen so many people with instruments make so little noise except for a reggae drone.

AC/DC, I was dallying on the fringes of Heavy Rock and got talked in to this by mates, awful, a constant search in the frets for a higher more excruciating note every song. I belive they are still playing the same set now 30 years later ?

Thank god I discovered Squeeze and then more latterly, Crowded House and Belle and Sebastian.

Alongside Bananarama at the Brighton Centre I also saw Howard Jones and A-ha in quick succession. Not a great track record in the 80's for me I am afraid. Also took the wife to see Celine Dion at Wembley Stadium, now that was uber shit. People drinking overly expensive champagne in the cheap seats just waiting for the theme from Titanic to be warbled. I guess the moral of the story is not to go and see a concert with me

Spooky Pasty !, I have a now ex-wife who made me go see John Denver with her at The Albert Hall, it wasn't too bad but not really my cuppa. Everyone in her family went once with her to see him, never twice !

Kylie at the Brighton Centre. Total shite. Absolutely hated it and would have left after about ten minutes except I was supposed to be looking after my brother who was a bit disabled at the time. He was gagging to see her so I had to get the tickets. Worse, he left some stuff backstage to get signed and I had to trot back next day to collect it from a couple of guffawing security guards. 'Sake!

Slightly off topic, but I was once gave away a couple of tickets to The Libertines in Manchester because I thought Pete Doherty was a spoon. And I stand by that one.
