Northside at rock city in Nottingham. One great song - shall we take a trip. They were dreadful really couldn't sing or play, I had done my final A Level that afternoon so thankfully I was pished.

The second mistake was madonna at baardiff a couple of years ago, persuaded to go by the wife. The gig was shit, in many ways even more disappointing than Northside.

Went to see Courtney Pine at the Dome after hearing him on a reggae album.....however, for the show I went to, he reverted to playing jazz....the sort of jazz that requires everbody in the band to be playing a different tune. Left after second racket (tune)

Sat through a similar experience with Soft Machine at Hove Town Hall. Excruciating. Managed more than a couple of 'tunes' though.

The Kids From Fame - Brighton Centre (about 1982).

I was probably the only one not wearing some kind of legwarmers.

Athlete at the Brighton centre about 5 yrs ago. Had been on a great all day session with my cousin and our then girlfriends and had a right laugh. Arrived at the Brighton centre suitably oiled and in a very good mood only to be thoroughly depressed by the 1.5 hours of spineless dross that wrapped up the day. What a sh*t band.

Stone Roses at the Brighton Centre was particularly bad. I also saw Ian Brown do solo gig in London which was pretty shit as well. He is an awful performer and singer.

I was persuaded by a group of "friends" who'd hired a minibus to see Rainbow with Graham Bonnet at Bingley Hall in Stafford (for the uninitiated it's basically a corrugated iron shed with a concrete floor). Even worse, if that's possible, the support band was Samson, whose drummer wore a rapists mask - nice.

I remember seeing Oasis tour their Hindu Times album at the Brighton Centre about 7/8 years ago and realising it was a mistake getting a ticket from the second they appeared on stage.

They were an absolute shadow of their former selves, and it just felt so boring, like watching a bland pub band blessed with good equipment.

The Birthday Party (Nick Cave's punk band prior to The Bad Seeds) at Leeds Poly in the late 1980s.

An absolute bloody god-awful headache-inducing racket, and a very unpleasant atmosphere; seemed that a fight would break out any minute due to the aggressive drunken moshing and slam-dancing, and the band's own confrontational 'attitude' and love of courting controversy.

I left after the second song.

Yet Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are one my favourite all-time bands, and provided one of my BEST gigs when they played East London's Troxy Theatre a couple of years ago, promoting the 'Dig, Lazarus, Dig' album -a truly fantastic gig!

Martha and the Muffins at the Top Rank circa 1979.

Yes, they do only have one song.

I was there for this one too, stalking a girl I fancied, who wasn't there, or hiding, and you're right about the one song :lolol:

Also, a mate got four tickets to see David Essex at The Centre, so us and our g/f's went and stayed for two songs (two too many!) then baled

Same mate got two tickets for UFO also at The Centre, which might have been OK, as I was only initiated to Doctor, Doctor and Lights Out at the time

Recently bought a ticket for Biffy Clyro at The Dome on a whim, and baled after one song, as it wasn't my scene :eek:ldfu*kersmilie:
