Why shall we applaud their support? They'd sell out here no matter what situation they're in, it's only 40 miles down the road. If they won't help themselves why should we bother helping them?

I feel for their fans. I might applaud. It will be a LONG time before they get to sit in a stadium as nice as ours again.

The only applause I will offer Portsmouth is when they get their just desserts and go out of business, then I shall clap their 'great fans' and laugh at them at the same time. To compare their situation to ours is ridiculous no similarity whatsoever.

More like sticking my fingers up at them. Hope they rot in hell. Poor Pompey fans, they are long suffering by all accounts. They were suffering I am sure when they played in Europe or lifted the FA Cup. Maybe their brains just hurt whilst they tried to work out how they were paying for all these players and their wages and when things have gone tits up like they have now and what precisely done since things started going wrong? oh thats' it they spunked more more money on wages for players they knowingly couldn't afford. And what did the fans do? Oh of course bitch and mone about needing to sign more players on loan to get them into the play offs. So they made a load of honest hard working employees redundant whilst paying the likes of Kitson £20,000 a week. Along with the proposed bucket collection I can safely say I will not applaud or give any money to that cheating bunch of tax dogers.

Sod that. I fully expect abuse from their support going on past experiences, and certaily dont envisage any happy clappy pleasantries. Ill be suprised if we dont see some sort of pitch invasion by them to be honest.

I'll applaud because its the done thing. No-matter what I think of Pompey as a club (really an abject dislike) no club deserves the comedic choice of ownership over the last few years and its not the fans fault.

As for the comment about "If they won't help themselves why should we bother helping them?"... Seriously? other than protesting and supporting their club, what do you expect them to do?

Even if the 20-odd-k that turn up to Fratton Park contributed £100 each, it would only raise £2m-ish and not everybody is as rich as you clearly are Noooone so they may not be able to spare it...

From a purely fans point of view, the Poertmsouth fans didn't splash the cash on overpaid players, they didn't defraud the taxman (and taxpayer) out of millions of unpaid income tax, they didn't agree to £20K a week wages for Kitson, or double that for Kanu. They turned up, week in week out, like hundreds of thousands of fans across the UK do, and supported the team that ran out onto the pitch. They had no influence at all on what the board and management did, any more that we do over TB and Gus. That said, there are quite a few Portsmouth fans who come across unbelievably arrogant, ungracious and feckless, but then we have a few of them too, the vast majority of them are probably no different to me or you, apart from the fact they have the misfortune to support Portsmouth. In the same way that I wouldn't ever want to see Palace out of business, I wouldn't want to see Pompey gone. Now what I would love to see is them below us in the football pyramid, likewise Palace, be nice to have some bragging rights, and they can look forward to draiwng a big club (like us) in the cup, a couple of times a year.

I feel sorry for the fans, you have to. Not sure what I will do on Saturday, I didn't intend giving Ipswich any stick until the daft banner came out.

But that's the thing, EVERYBODY knew that they were paying stupid wages, and that a 20k capacity stadium was never going to be able to afford such players. Look at Fulham, years in the Premier League and they've never spunked money on silly wages, they've signed players who they know aren't on top wages, and don't take has beens looking for a pay packet. What Dave Wheelan is doing at Wigan is admirable, he knows the club can't afford to spend silly money on wages, and so doesn't, and will sell players on to keep the club above board. The Pompey fans knew what was going on, they knew they'd be struggling to keep paying these players if it all went tits up, and it did.
Heck, even a number of our fans were worried about our expenditure when we signed CMS and Buckley. They did nothing to stop the spending, just enjoyed the ride and rubbed it in to everyone they came across how they'd won an FA cup. f*** em, I hope they enjoy playing Havant and Waterlooville in years to come.

If we don't every thing we have been through will count for nothing, cheer the albion to victory on saturday, drown out the pompey hoardes.
But respect them for they are victims as we were of lousy owners!

Who was the victim when the Albion fan lying on the ground in the Lanes, many years ago, was jumped on and his leg was snapped?

Sorry, don't get all this patronising applause for away supporters, never heard us getting the same when attendances are read out at away games?
