I am reading this with my Pompey supporting mate at work and he has said that they are not asking for applause or sympathy. Stick it up your arse were his exact words. So there you have it.

From a purely fans point of view, the Poertmsouth fans didn't splash the cash on overpaid players, they didn't defraud the taxman (and taxpayer) out of millions of unpaid income tax, they didn't agree to £20K a week wages for Kitson, or double that for Kanu. They turned up, week in week out, like hundreds of thousands of fans across the UK do, and supported the team that ran out onto the pitch. They had no influence at all on what the board and management did, any more that we do over TB and Gus. That said, there are quite a few Portsmouth fans who come across unbelievably arrogant, ungracious and feckless, but then we have a few of them too, the vast majority of them are probably no different to me or you, apart from the fact they have the misfortune to support Portsmouth. In the same way that I wouldn't ever want to see Palace out of business, I wouldn't want to see Pompey gone. Now what I would love to see is them below us in the football pyramid, likewise Palace, be nice to have some bragging rights, and they can look forward to draiwng a big club (like us) in the cup, a couple of times a year.

This, why would anyone wish for a club to go out of business? How would everyone like it if every club wanted us to go out of business?

The only applause I will offer Portsmouth is when they get their just desserts and go out of business, then I shall clap their 'great fans' and laugh at them at the same time. To compare their situation to ours is ridiculous no similarity whatsoever.

WHY?

Their club was totally shafted by disreputable owners just like ours was. Only difference being we got lucky with decent people to claear up the mess and a very rich man whom we knew. What would have happened had TB not said he was prepared to find the whole falmer project???

pompey , on the other hand, will be lucky to make it to the end of the season. I feel for their fans who really don't deserve this.

Not wishing for any club to go bust, but i do hope they go down to Div 2 and sit it out there for a few seasons, they were loving it when they were spending millions winning a cup,so take the rough with the smooth,as for clapping them,no f***ing chance, 6 fingered wronguns can shove it as far as im concerned, clapping they away fans for coming is pretty gay anyway.

People on here who are worried that no one will applaud shouldn't be too despondent - the Albion fan base as a whole is almost certainly nicer, more generous, more thoughtful and simply classier than this thread suggests the NSC community is.

Why shall we applaud their support? They'd sell out here no matter what situation they're in, it's only 40 miles down the road. If they won't help themselves why should we bother helping them?

You are a proper first class knobhead!!! With a very short memory!!

This. I'm Brighton born and bred but now live in Portsmouth and make the trip for every home game... Its not exactly massive effort, no what they are going through!

Sorry, don't get all this patronising applause for away supporters, never heard us getting the same when attendances are read out at away games?

This. Why do some fans applaud the away support? I've never done it and never will. We need to make The Amex intimidating, not welcoming, for away teams and fans.
