Sorry but I can't take seriously people who can't type carefully or punctuate. It reeks of an unformed mind. Happy to put you on ignore with the other pillocks
You've made yourself look a little silly in this little exchange, do whatever you like, however I think the 'pillocks' group is probably where you belong, so don't be too hasty will you....

What was your point in relevance to the OP, considering you should be intimately aware of it?

To be fair (and I am sometimes fair) I don't quite follow your question (above). Did I miss an earlier difference of opinion, or is this just a *miss-question?

*perfectly legal now, in America, so I'm told

The key word is “allegations”, as you’ve just stated.

I’m not minimising the seriousness of sexual harassment and bullying by any means. I’m just not keen on the rush to judgement by the kangaroo court of public opinion.

Several innocent people’s lives were ruined by the aftermath of the police inquiries post-Saville.

I’ve no idea if NC is guilty and neither have you....!

You've conflated a few issues there and I don't think they relate to the current issue at all.

The Police were completely over sensitive post Operation Yewtree, particularly with investigations into MPs and Parliament and the treatment of Cliff Richard. They clearly didn't do enough work to check out the stories which were based on mainly an individuals complaint.

But:

1) There is no police investigation here, there are no charges, they aren't involved. No-one is "guilty" or "not guilty" because a newspaper can't bring charges.

2) You are confusing the debate around anonymity for those accused of sexual offence. There is no defendant here, a investigative news story, not a "court".

3) If the Newspaper have got this wrong they'll will be sued for millions.

No. They are human beings and deserve due process when called out in a newspaper.

Remember that Stains manager some years ago? Had to leave football because of public allegations of abuse. When the case came to court the accusers melted away into the night. But the man's career was over. And his income etc.

And not that I have time for him, Cliff Richard? ???

And one I do have time for, Paul Gambaccini? The man has been ruined.

This should have been dealt with off the grid, surely? If the bloke is innocent he's still ****ed now. That's not justice.

Yep, ITV have got their timing completely wrong. Should have waited for a conviction. Anyway, we have just watched parts 1 and 2 and it is excellent.

As I said, grow up and stop being obtuse. And maybe read clapham_gull post whilst you are at it.

You really are just a troll. Flaunt expensive lifestyle whilst claiming to be socialist, and being patronising to boot.

I’m not sure I understand either of those sentences Harry.
I just said the programme shouldn’t have been pulled because he hasn’t been convicted of anything and that we enjoyed the show. Not intended to be flippant. Why are you defending this bloke from an imagined attack by me ?

You’re clearly much better informed on the regulatory environment than I am but I don’t really see why ITV couldn’t pull the programme on all its outlets if they felt it was inappropriate?

Strongly suspect it was to try to mollify both sides of the fence by pulling it on the “linear” channel but allowing it to be shown on the hub instead.

Elements of inequality here, surely, as you presumably need a smart TV/device to watch on the ITV hub?

Yes I totally agree. You either drop the programme or not.

The complexity of these of allegations for broadcasters is that they appear to have been made in part about conduct on the set of television productions. That maybe not "work" for us, but you are watching people at work even if they are acting.

Without drawing any conclusions or passing comment about what has happened or not, production companies have finally woken up to this.

For years dubious conduct within the industry by "talent" wasn't considered like that. In sat in a grey area between work and entertainment.

I don't now but I worked directly in (and then connected to) television production for a number years. To be clear, I never witnessed anything sexually aggressive but witnessed people acting like utter twats on a number of occasions.

Let's put it into context.

You are working in an office as a 20 something and an older and more senior colleague turns up completely rat arsed after a lunch time drinking session. As he walks in, his mobile rings and he takes the phone call standing in the door way.

He refuses to allow anyone to leave the office until his call has finished. When you try to get past him, he just moves his position. This goes on an hour.

When he finishes his call, he moves to one side and sarcastically sweeps his arm to inform those in the room they can now leave.

If that really happened in most offices, that person would be toast by the end of the day.

Unfortunately in a studio in the 90s (and not being in a position to make a complaint about a well known television presenter), I just let it go and made my excuses regarding where I should have been at that time.

Previous to that working on location, I started questioning the whole thing after being asked to pick up the cigarette butts left by the "talent" and director.

I must make it clear THINGS HAVE CHANGED massively with all sorts of rules and regulations in place.

However, when and if something happens (even if alleged) the production companies act very very quickly.

Nothing to do with political correctness at all. Just an acknowledgement of what was allowed to happen before. Bullying, exploitation, low pay etc.. all part of the dark side of the industry.

I think “grow up” was a fair and proportionate response to the childish obtuse post.

And what has your last sentence got to do with it?

Bloody political correctness, having a problem with some trifling nonsense like *checks notes* allegations of sexual harassment and bullying

The problem is, and I've said this somewhere else, we are giving those who want to shout 'PC gone mad' so much (valid?) ammunition when we have pile ons like this on the basis of allegations. Let the series finish, carry out due process and move on - He wouldn't be employed in the mean time anyway.

The people shouting loudest about this are the ones who want to be seen and heard to be doing the right thing not the ones who just want the right thing to be done. Mostly centrist mums and dads.
