I am beginning to wonder, given the incredible 'destroy and exit' that seems to be underway, whether the fat lying messy smirking bungle**** has always hated the country and the Conservative party and it has been his plan all along to make a monumental mess of everything. For a laugh.

He's a disgusting human being on every level.

And then **** off to France, with his Dad, laughing all the way...

I've been thinking the same for a while now, and that he knows he will go down has the worst PM in history making him always talked about and hoping to coin in it with a film in years to come, whilst still not giving two hoots.

Even when we are long gone, our children's children will be talking about him and Covid. It will be a massive part off our history.

I've said the same many times on here, but they've imploded internally like they did under the last days of Thatcher and then Major. Arguably much worse.

As part of that survival and success they know they need to be out of power every now and then to fix themselves. Same applies to Labour.

Inevitably out of power there will be a war between the centrists and the loony fringe whilst they re-invent themselves and that takes time.

I don’t think Johnson’s downfall is remotely comparable to these, or any really. Johnson is assured a place in infamy, he’s widely - and for a considerable time now - been lauded as the worst PM in our history. I’d certainly agree, but then I’ve disliked him for decades and watched his rise open mouthed with concern, then despair and then anger. I cannot wait to see him gone. We live in very troubling times as a nation and even a species. Johnson should be nowhere near the steering wheel never mind driving. Tonight the UK basically doesn’t have a government and yet still this crackpot thinks he can carry on. Because we are all, in his mind, beneath him. Like Trump, he simply won’t go and like Nero would prefer we all burn first.

I can't see him being left with any other option than to call an Election.
His only chance of regaining the power he craves is by proving he still has a mandate.

I wouldn't put it past the electorate to give it to him
I can see Labour ****ing it up, because it seems a foregone conclusion he would lose,

Is he going to be able to do this? If he calls an election he won't have much of the Tory Party infrastructure to help him run his campaign and, as we don't have a presidential system, he is also going to have to get x hundred MPs of the Boris is fab party elected too. I'm not sure I can see that happening, particularly if they stand against 'official' Tory party candidates.

You would have thought that, having won the Brexit vote, the loony fringe would have assuaged their bloodlust.

But the slow burn of discovering that Brexit isn't the answer to anything, may cause them to become even more loony. A wave machine to capsize the migrants' boats wasn't deemed final enough, so we got the Rwanda solution instead.

An ultra loyalist, the Attorney General has been interviewed on television tonight to say

1) The Prime Minister must go
2) She isn't resigning
3) and launched a leadership bid.

This isn't just a Tory Meltdown like all parties have had before, this is a complete implosion. It will take them years to recover from this.

Exactly this. He’s steering us toward the iceberg. With a big ****ing smile on his face.

“Johnson took his seat and smirked. It’s what he does. A nervous tic. Even when the shit hits the fan, he can’t help taking everything as a joke. The masochist in him loves the attention. Even when it’s all negative. He’d rather people were still talking about him rather than ignoring him”

I recall after he was boo’d at the Jubilee;

“He won’t be in power on Monday”

People were convinced he was a goner then. CONVINCED that was it for him. Yet, here he still is.

He won't survive this - however, he may have to be dragged out of number 10 by his tousled hair, as he won't go quietly you can rest assured of that.

I mean, what has he actually got to lose by sticking it out? Everyone knows he is a narcissistic, lying, devious, chancer, so it's not like it's going to affect him personally, is it?

Hence why if someone were to shoot the ******* before this unceremonious moment arrived, I wouldn’t have cared. It would have been a blessing. Politics needs to be reformed to protect democracy from this new breed of leaders who simply won’t leave under any circumstance - to the point of sedition and risk of civil war as America found. Johnson seemingly holds an office that prior, and for hundreds of years, is built on a degree of integrity and honour. He’s demonstrated by ignoring this that someone can crash the car repeatedly without any consequence. So we need to protect ourselves from his kind for when the next Johnson comes along and perhaps plunges us into worse.

i was wondering if this splits the party, going into an election with half the MPs openly opposed to the leader, the other mixed. how would you even campaign?

but no. he wont call an election as that would be admission of defeat. so then i wonder how long he can continue as PM without a majority support in parliament. probably could get as far as autumn budget without needing a vote. i dont think the PM can actually resign, they have to tell the Queen who should take over and then appoint them. i dont think Johnson is going to recommend anyone. interesting times.

When The Clamp asserted that Johnson was in fact going NOWHERE and we’d never get him out of Downing Street, I used to laugh.

Well, I’m not laughing now

I went to a boarding school. I know these people. I can’t begin to describe the arrogance of these men. It’s in their DNA. One can’t humiliate it out of them anymore than one can un-fry an egg.

When the end finally comes I hope this thread gets preserved in ‘Gold’ - it’s a fantastic contemporaneous account of what will probably be the most remarkable 8 months in modern British political history, documenting every twist and turn as they unfolded.
