"decent and responsible government relies on honesty, integrity and mutual respect - it is a matter of profound personal regret for me that I must leave government as I no longer believe those values are being upheld."

All these Tories citing "honesty" as an integral part of why they can't continue.

Would I be correct in assuming they view themselves as being better, more important than The Queen.

After all they did enable Jonno to lie to her.
They did excuse that away.
They did think that was ok.

Three already

Security minister Damian Hinds has announced his resignation from government.

He becomes the third resignation this morning as the prime minister grapples with further losses.

Technically yes. But who is leader plays a significant part in voting intention; you only have to read this site to realize this. The bottom line is if you voted Tory, you supported and/or enabled Boris; the will of the people.

I agree personalities come into it, but it is definitely not a mandate to stay in Downing Street, by any stretch of the imagination..

So many ministers have resigned now, the government cannot function. Meetings of committees have been cancelled today, already.

Johnson is such a needy attention seeking bungle**** that I can see him using his US place of birth to mount a claim for presidency there. A prefect replacement for the Trump loving mentalists.

Another minister has quit the government this morning.

Science minister George Freeman says the prime minister has shown a "lack of transparency and candour with Parliament".

You would have thought that, having won the Brexit vote, the loony fringe would have assuaged their bloodlust.

But the slow burn of discovering that Brexit isn't the answer to anything, may cause them to become even more loony. A wave machine to capsize the migrants' boats wasn't deemed final enough, so we got the Rwanda solution instead.

The litmus test for me is Rees-Mogg out of office.

Does an election have to be voted on in the commons?

No. Only the Queen can stop it.

As such, I expect Mr Johnson to threaten the 1922 with an election if they fiddle about with their rules and change them next week.

His line will be the same one pedalled out after Brexit. The will of the people can not be overturned by Parliament.

Many are underestimating just how hard Johnson will fight. He cares not one jot about the Tory party, only himself. If he is going down, he’ll take many Tories down with him in a snap election.

You’re right. Most are quitting because they think it is in their personal interest or he has served his purpose. Let’s not forget though that Johnson didn’t invent lack of integrity and dishonesty. It is pretty common at or near the top of a lot of professions. I have seen it in both of mine. I also went to uni with people like him. A lot of people who just go into work every day and go home again don’t see what goes on behind the scenes. Johnson isn’t unique, he’s just been found out.

Johnson is unique.

He got to where he is now despite everybody already knowing the truth about him!

No he didn't; he made it an art form though......

Nothing a quick reshuffle can't sort out...

Someone called Opperman gone now. Stores these names away if you are planning on applying for Pointless in the future

Normally I would struggle to agree with you and say that we have a tradition of decency, honour and fair play. But, Johnson debases and corrupts anyone, anything and all the great offices of state that he comes in to contact with.

He's like a split tube of reverse Superglue left lying around, anything that contacts it starts to fall apart and disintergrates.

He needs to be thrown out of office by the rules and obligations that we, and particularly the Tory Party stand for. The Cabinet should resign enmasse at 9am this morning and any MP offered a post should refuse it.

It appears to be getting to this point. My local MP is a stalwart Johnson supporter and is tweeting defiance too. She’s nailed herself to a mast that’s sinking I’m afraid, and the word that springs to mind is ‘desperate’ if not ‘delusional’
