We keep hearing that the 1922 committee can or could change the rules to get rid of him. I’m sure they could. Do we have any evidence that they wish to?

Be patient!

Right, 'Politics Live' ... Tories have served up Miriam (who?) Cates, Labour have gone with Jess Phillips.

...oops, another one gone

I haven’t always agreed with Angry Alastair, but he’s absolutely spot on here.

Good point re. Gove, where is he these days?

Maybe in a bit of a comedown, but he has history of stabbing Big Dog in the back, so he should be able to manage it if he wants.

The Daily Hate appears to have turned against the PM, the broadsheets are focusing on his likely demise. The Sun has gone neutral.

The Daily Express are saying Diana was murdered.

Another resignation.

Parliamentary Private Secretary Felicity Buchan, the MP for Kensington, has quit her role.

Yes - fully agree with you. PMQs has certainly evolved from what it was originally intended to be and I'm sure there was a time when it was conducted in quite an honourable fashion, in keeping with the purpose. Now, it just seems to be the opportunity for a bit of badly delivered stand-up and the chance to get some pre-prepared 'lines' on the 6 o'clock news. Every now and then, a devastating and unforeseen blow can be dealt - but more often than not these come from a backbencher.

Agree with that assessment too. I think there will be a devastating blow today, but it won't be unforeseen, as The Saj is making a statement during PMQs. Unfortunately I've got a dull meeting, so won't see it live, but I reckon it'll be sufficiently to the point to make it to the bulletins -- I'm hoping to see a camera trained on the front bench while it happens.

They really are like rats aren't they. All leaving now the worm has turned. Except of course Raab, Patel, Dorries etc who are so utterly useless they know it's either Johnson's cabinet or back to the backbenches*.

*I'd add "where they belong", except they don't have any place being MPs, IMO.

I’m perfectly patient thank you. Resigned to the likelyhood he’ll be here for a few years yet. I was merely posing a question.

Miriam Cates, still a BoJo loyalist, has just said that her constituents were "surprised he wasn't on the ballot paper" in 2019.

Is she calling them thick, or what?

20/1 on smarkets for an exit date of 2024 or later

(merely for information purposes)

16 ministers and counting quit

Numerous vocal pro Johnson backbenchers turning against him

Daily Mail front page describing him as a greased piglet.

I thought I was a cynical pessimist but I cannot find any angle from which he's getting through this ... and even if he does there will be something else in a couple of weeks...

He's toast.

Lee Anderson, a man who's swallowed every single line about Brexit and Vaccines is "gutted" but has withdrawn his support. Last one out turn the lights off.

He'll soon be running out of people prepared to replace quitting ministers, given that >75% backbenchers voted 'no confidence.' I can't imagine there is a queue of backbenchers willing to join this government. If he can't field a full team then surely he has to go
