Come back again Friday next week and let us know if anything has changed. Expecting it to happen overnight and using it not happening as evidence that it won't happen is a bit ... humm.
Anyway, the talk currently coming through is that the current 1922 is meeting *tonight*, and could change the rules *tonight*, allowing a new VoNC to take place ASAP. Some reports even indicate that the 1922 have gone so far as to start contingency planning for a leadership contest to begin as early as Monday.
This time, it is categorically different from all the other times. I don't see how Boris can cling on beyond the end of next week. I now firmly believe he'll either be ousted on Friday / Monday via a new VoNC or he will have tried to get ahead of things by calling a snap GE.

Ian Blackford is always great value. Cutting, amusing and understands the dynamics of PMQs. I don’t drink anymore but if I did, Ian Blackford is a man I’d like to have a pint with.

Yes, it’s looking bad for him. Yes, it does look a bit more serious than most situations he’s been in. But do not be surprised of this does not result in him being booted out.
They had a chance a few weeks ago and blew it. I don’t have any faith this will be different.

Raab not looking too happy today.
Previous ones weren't "categorically different". All we saw previously with each scandal was a trickle of no confidence letters and guesswork by journos about when / if the 54 letters threshold would be reached.
This time is categorically different:
- 2x senior cabinet resignations
- flow of junior minister resignations
- growing number of PPS resignations
- previously supportive backbenchers tripping over themselves to declare no confidence
- strong rumours surfacing that the *current* 1922 is prepared to act even before a new 1922 (that is guaranteed to be anti-Boris) gets elected next week
- instead of journos speculating about whether there's enough letters for a VoNC to be triggered, the speculation is all about there now being a majority in favour of removing Boris
The Tory knives are well and truly out now. Boris won't quit of his own accord, but he's going to be pushed. Just a matter of time now. My last point above is very much supported by the payroll resignations - they'll be preparing to vote against Boris when a VoNC takes place.
To anyone who's forgotten, this was the MP who said before the Euros last summer that he would never watch an England match again while they took the knee.
If he's even losing the "utter ****" vote then he really is screwed.
