It does seem strange that she has gone from being a Lib Dem (albeit quite a while ago) and a Remianer to standing to be Tory PM to implement Minford type economic policies; quite the transformation.

I presume it's a self-serving transformation i.e. one which she feels will appeal to the party members. Let's face it, those loonies and nutters voted in Boris as leader so it's a proven and successful tactic.

Liz Truss as PM then, backed by JRM and the ERG lot.

She's a self declared Thatcherite. She said so today. I also saw an interview in which she successfully did the BOJO and failed to answer any direct question put to her, repeating the same mantra again and again. Made Michael Howard look like a straight talking bloke..

Public school toffs always elect a woman that reminds them of their strict nannies - Thatcher, Theresa May. Liz Truss is a shoo in

Changing views as your lived experiences change is to be admired. But I look at those Thatcher costume pictures and refuse to believe she did it for any reason other than opportunism

I don't disagree, but it's the speed with which she has changed and the conviction of the change, i.e. this is the correct economic school of thought to run a country on, whereas a couple of years ago it was fundamentally different.

My views have changed over the years, not quite as extreme, or to the same extent, maybe more refined/matured but I guess everyone's different and she will have sound reasons and wise voices around her.

Thick Lizzy is the gammon's choice: she's a cretin, she's white, she didn't have a part to play in sacking the fat slimy Etonian, and of course she hasn't achieved anything but she does love Brexit (which is why she backed remain). I don't like Sunak's politics either as he's an out of touch hypocrite, but I do believe he'd have been easier to paint as a steady hand on the tiller when 2024 comes around. That wouldn't be good with the country needing to get rid of this shower of shit, so a year or two of Truss embarrassing the nation is something I will happily stomach.

Falmer, soon...
With Liz, I guess the hope is that she might listen to some sense around her (perhaps even the civil service) but it's more likely she'll be a puppet. With Rishi, he's just massively out of touch and massively distanced from reality. I can't work out which is more concerning.

Absolute nutter. Note who Steve Peers (Professor of EU law and trading law) and Pippa Musgrave (trading law consultant) were answering.

Good lord, it's Owen Paterson. I struggle to believe he could be seen as somehow untrustworthy.

Truss will win. The Tory membership, like an orphaned child being told to select its next parent, will go for the one that offers the most toys and likes their behaviour. They certainly won't choose the one that murdered their previous Dad.

She will win and colour will be a factor

Whilst a minority there are enough of the membership its still enough to swing it.

Yes its feels a bit undemocratic and annoys the public. I remember when Thatcher was ousted, there were a lot of unhappy folk

But that is our system whether its Labour or Tory at the helm, we vote for a party in the election not the leader. Its not a presidential system

Love the ABC1 group, I'm so aggrieved, f**k it I'm voting leave.
