To follow this up, heard on R4 this morning.

Yes indeed.

She was asked about which respected economists backed her tax strategy.

She thought she'd hit the bullseye when she triumphantly declared Minford and while I laughed so much I struggled to regain control of the car, Nick Robinson duely corrected her about how much he was respected.

The sad thing is, I think they’ll win the next GE.

Hopefully we’ll have a by-election to test their popularity without Johnson. Has pinching sexual assault fiend Pincher quit as an MP yet? If not, surely his constituency should be forcing him to go?

"He believes that Brexit could increase GDP by 6.8% and could reduce prices for British consumers."

Vicky Ford MP on Politics Live described Truss as the person who 'held the free world together' in her response to the Russian invasion.

That's not the fault of the system. It's the people.

Tory MP on the radio this morning explaining why he is supporting Sunak:

"I voted remain, as did Liz Truss. Now we have left the EU we need a prime minister who supported Brexit from the start".

Christ. And people will nod in agreement with that.

PR won't save us from this, and we will always end up with the governments we deserve.

I disagree my friend is very left wing and when Jeramy Corbyn was leader he joined the Labour Party, when Kier Starmer became leader my friend resigned his membership.

We had along discussion on this he left as without Corbyn in charge he felt his personal views would not be represented so he will vote for another more left wing party or just not vote at all.

while my view was less principled but maybe more pragmatic,

Under a Tory led Government it is extremely unlikely that they will deliver any policy that he or I agree with.

While a Kier Starmer led government might not deliver all the things he agrees with but they will certainly deliver some.

Having and sticking rigidly to principles as my friend does clearly demonstrates that our current political system only gives him the option to cast a vote for a party that will return no representation or cast the vote for a party that he shares some of his views.

Proportional representation could be the answer were nearly everyone’s views can be heard

Lovely contribution from a grass routes Tory member on Politics Live. She took exception to the stereotyping of tory members while pulling off a very convincing M&S Hyacinth Bucket cosplay.

Truss will win. The Tory membership, like an orphaned child being told to select its next parent, will go for the one that offers the most toys and likes their behaviour. They certainly won't choose the one that murdered their previous Dad.

'fringe economist' :lolol:

nutter is the word he was looking for.

Absolute nutter. Note who Steve Peers (Professor of EU law and trading law) and Pippa Musgrave (trading law consultant) were answering.

It does seem strange that she has gone from being a Lib Dem (albeit quite a while ago) and a Remianer to standing to be Tory PM to implement Minford type economic policies; quite the transformation.

Liz Truss as PM then, backed by JRM and the ERG lot.

Rishi Sunak would not cut personal taxes until at least autumn 2023 to avoid fuelling inflation, the Guardian understands.

The position is expected to be a clear dividing line between Sunak and his rival, Liz Truss, who has promised an emergency budget to cut taxes immediately.

Sunak’s pledge to Conservative members will be that it is the most Conservative position to be fiscally responsible and to offer the country sound economic management.

Changing views as your lived experiences change is to be admired. But I look at those Thatcher costume pictures and refuse to believe she did it for any reason other than opportunism

It's a completely sound line of logic. Which means it will be rejected out of hand by the tory membership
