OK, think I've found a reasonable list of backbench switchers. Looks like 7, possibly 8. I'll use 7 for the count:

182 vs 176

Nearly there. Very nearly there.

Edit: Jenrick switches. 181 vs 177
When it gets to 179-179 I really want it to be Gove that twists the casting knife. Lol.

5 Ministers resign in a single letter. We've reached critical mass.

176 vs 182

As someone who doesn't believe a word Johnson says, I totally agree with all of that. He doesn't care about anyone apart from himself, has no respect for colleagues or interest in people up and down the country and thinks he is WAY above everyone else in terms of intellect.

However, the thing that I don't quite understand is that this was meant to be the dream job for the man who wanted to be 'World King' – how can he make such a mess of it? Or, like Trump and probably many others, was it more about having the title of the Prime Minister, as opposed to doing the work of the Prime Minister?

Or maybe he is actually being truthful when he says he's doing the best job he can, it's just his best is borderline medicore at a push?

Funny bloke.
Because his idea of the job is foreign jollies and overseas banquets. Getting photographed shaking hands and letting others do the work.

Unfortunately for him that wasn't compatible with Covid.

Oh I’m sure he wanted the job. I’m sure he was happy/surprised when he got it. He wanted it, he was just completely incapable of doing it. I reckon when he realised this PM thing required some work he just thought, “**** it! I can’t do this so I’ll just party and profit and lie until the jigg is up. Then I’ll saunter off to something else”.

I’m sure he is amused by how long he’s got away with it.

After he’s gone, while the media and press are analysing it for weeks, he’ll be on a beach in the Maldives sipping mint dewlaps, No.10 a million miles from his thoughts.

Neil O'Brien gone.

That's one from Gove's team, so probably lends credence to the reports that Gove is currently planting a polite knife.

This is like a good old England batting collapse.

I don’t think even one of Carrie’s ‘special’ office visits will cheer Johnson up after what’s happened today.

Mims Davies is the latest minister to quit. She was employment minister at the Department for Work and Pensions.

Edit: Didn't hit refresh - already posted.

I think you mean that wasn't compatible with Governing a country, or being in any position of responsibility (something that would have been obvious from his well documented previous history). Unless you're suggesting he could have got away with it if it wasn't for Covid ???
