Seems the PM's new head of Comms and former Geebies star likes a bit of Chinese lobbying

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/17566118/boris-johnson-guto-harri-huawei/

If that story was about someone like Corbyn having links with a technology stealing Chinese company like Huawei, it’d be on the front page of the Sun & Express for weeks. Harri is stained by workout for the BBC for the most cerebrally limited in this country so I suppose he is fist game at the moment, this story will surely die soon though.

But receiving money from dodgy Russians is fine though, they're Tory's and of course there could be no question of influence, Russians give money away all the time.

Might explain why Johnson went to Kiev and talk tough to no one while Macron is off to see Putin today to have it out

There are 2 core objectives

a) Stay in power at all costs, take funding and perform favours as required

b) Feather own nest for when they're out of power

Apparently the Biden administration are concerned with the amount of Russian money sloshing around the Tory party that if push does indeed come to shove the US might not be able to rely on the UK to act in the appropriate manner. Which is a pretty damning indictment of their supposedly biggest and closest ally.

my reading is they are concerned about the money sloshing around London generally, and whether we'd impose sanctions on that or not. a problem is that its not necessaryily pro-Putin Russians, there are plenty of opponents or potential opponents that use London as their plan B or base. example being Lebedev.

New Director of Comms appointment is going well. Lunchtime day one and an interview he gave over the weekend has just emerged where he referred to Boris Johnson as “not a complete clown.”

It certainly is, we are fast becoming a rogue nation..... especially when we threaten to tear up Johnson's own Oven Ready Brexit agreement for NI

To be fair, that would depend on the tone of how he said it and is just a bit ambiguous in text. He is to be excused as it isn't like he works in communica......

Oh.

Dominic Grieve character assassination of the liar in chief...

Just a reminder who he is...

"Former Attorney General for England and Wales for a Conservative government"...

He was chair of the committee that produced the Russia Report which had its release delayed twice by Johnson, then watered down and not acted upon otherwise the Tory party would lose its Russian cash donations.

It should be pointed out that that's one particular translation and not one that everyone agrees with. There's been a debate on Welsh language twitter about it. (not a total clown, not totally clownish, not clownish at all etc) although it should be said that a phrase that's open to intepretation should not really be used by a communications specialist.

I'm more concerned by the next part of the sentence "ond mae’n gymeriad sy’n hoffus iawn" - but he has a very attractive/charming character. That's not something I've seen
