Another day done, Johnson still here. Reported today he’s been singing I Will Survive with his staff and has said “it will take a panzer division to drag me out of here”. Which is a strange yet very revealing choice of removal system.

Anyone still have the slightest hope he’s going? Or does this just make it all the sweeter when he is turfed out?

I see a bunch of right wing anti - Vaxers have crowded round Starmer with noose as he was leaving the commons shouting about Savile ,words have consequences Boris. And only a few months after a Tory was murdered.

Out Trumped Trump.

Just read this. Another worrying incident that seems like a stand alone event but actually adds to the anti-logic, extreme right wing momentum of the whole. This is straight out of the Donald Trump play-book.

Words do have consequences. And that’s exactly what Boris Johnson planned on. He says nothing by accident.

It's a lull before the police report.

"Cleaning up No 10" and sticking a bunch of newbies in seems a really odd strategy BEFORE the investigation is complete.

Unless of course they actually resigned because they didn't want to experience the fall out.

I still think it's the last days of Rome, it's just gonna take a few more months.

New Director of Comms appointment is going well. Lunchtime day one and an interview he gave over the weekend has just emerged where he referred to Boris Johnson as “not a complete clown.”

Yes - very good, I love this sort of thing - it all depends upon the inflection doesn't it. I was discussing our manager with a colleague once, and I said something that related my actions to the manager's. My colleague's response was 'Yes, but you're not a complete arse'. I then quoted this during my 360 degree appraisal with said manager, as a compliment on the basis that I was doing okay, because x said that I wasn't a complete arse.

Which was boasting in a way (as x was very critical of most people), but took the boast out of it by making it into a sort of joke.

It seems to me the parallels with Trump are increasingly resonant. The Savile slur, if made outside of Parliament, could have been pursued in court. But in Parliament you can say anything (then retract it, but by then the impact is made).

But apologizing for all the hurt that he knew nothing about (caused by the gatherings that were not parties), then joking about it ('I will survive') shows absolute contempt for the dead and their grieving families.

Brace yourselves, folk. There is no lie beneath him, no faux contrition that can't be faked, and no back he won't stab to stay in office.

It's actually frightening.

A full apology required from Johnson, clearly he has incited violence. Actions have consequences....

That you can laugh at Starmer over the lies about Savile make you, what? A paedophile yourself?

The right wing, Neo- Nazis, and racists have long used the paedophile/paedophile-protector as a slur against the people and organisations they frame as their foes. It’s a very strange phenomenon that seems to centre on Hilary Clinton in the US and Savile over here (obviously Savile away guilt as Hell, as oppose to Clinton).
They seem to target the BBC and Asian gangs but let the church and children’s homes off the hook. It’s a very targeted, cynical defamation. And weirdly, seems to work quite well.

Agreed with the above.

So do we think he’s going after the police report. I personally think he’ll survive a VoNC and if that’s the case, he’ll be stronger than ever? Or is the damage done now?

I think Johnson staying in Number 10 is Labour's best chance of winning the next GE. Will be interesting to see what happens in May, but I'd credit the British public with a bit more intelligence than the current incumbent of Downing Street does, and a longer memory to boot.
