I then hope he doesn’t resign, I don’t think he would, and to see him staggering on for at least another year, with no authority,subjected to ridicule and the open contempt of even his own party would be extremely edifying.

I kind of see your point, you are hoping that we have to hit rock bottom so so badly that the Tories are unelectable for a decade or more. The problem with that is the real suffering that will be suffered by so many compared to many Tory voters.

The press will merely continue propping them up, their rich donors, including their Russian benefactors, will pile cash in to their election fund and " Think Tanks " and any Labour government will be submitted to their rabid fury.

If ANY Labour MP, Councillor or advisor makes the slightest mistake they will be hounded out. Remember Jeremy Corbyn's wrong coat " Scandal " at the Cenotaph and multiply that X 10.
I think the one victory we can achieve is to get Johnson and his cronies out of office in the disgrace they deserve. That can only be achieved thanks to the disgust and shame felt by a majority of the Tory party.

After that, normal service will be resumed, " Lessons will be learned " " Back to traditional Tory values" " The people need stability and leadership at this time... " etc etc. and it all goes back to normal.

I read in The Sunday Times today the Tory government wasted £200m in a non-refundable cancelled order to French biotech company Valneva for a Covid vaccine.

They're just trying their best though/it's not their fault/Jeremy Corbyn/free trade deals with Honduras etc, etc.....

I think you have a point. It may just be simple incompetence unlike the awarding of contracts to companies that have only just been set up by friends, family and acquaintances of the cabinet
