Aussies have a seriously WARPED attitude to sunny weather.

They're quite happy getting strapped into a ridiculous full-length wet-suit with a side-order of green face-paint so they can form an orderly queue to ride a plank of wood into the shore. But ask them to lay on a beautiful sandy beach on a towel and, say, read a book or smoke a joint or something, and they immediately demand the car-keys and go sit in the car and sulk til you feel like a bad person and have to take them home.

Australia is wasted on the Australians. FACT.

eh? venom, sarcasm and extreme generalisation all in one thread - how DO you do it?

ps.. Don't see many people sulking in cars here - my "local" beach:

I get burnt when the sun comes out from behind a cloud for 15 minutes. As I played golf on Friday and Saturday, My face looks like a beacon which can probably be seen from Brighton even though I am Warwickshire.

Trying to sleep last night was a nightmare. I was sweating more than Ron Atkinson at the Notting Hill Carnival even with both windows open.

Its gonna be HOT today. I reckon it will go over 30 degrees C and I never known it go over thirty down on the coast, ever. Not since 1979 almost definitely.

Its lovely weather, although I think we should have an imposed maximum of 28 as its just a bit too warm to work outside on the motor in this weather

its almost too hot to sit in the garden drinking iced Cider but I struggled through yesterday afternoon fine ( also quaffing plenty of water so not dehydrated/hungover ! )

Be honest here. It's the week before or after Xmas. And they're all backpackers. Every last one of them.

Ha!

Why go to the beach if you aren't going to go into the water?

You might as well sit in your backyard.

But then again considering a good few British tourist are dragged from the water yearly with spinal injuries because they don't know how to swim the surf i can see why you stick to the beach

It's amusing when ya read people complaining 30 degrees is too hot.

Try a week of 40 degrees plus.

30 dregress is perfect weather

I agree that under normal circumstances 30-35 is about perfect.

I think it's more down to humidity than temperature. I was in the Western Australian desert once (near some place called Sandfire, appropriately) and the thermometer said 52°C in the shade, but since the humidity was near enough 0.0% it felt OK. But I've also been in 100% humidity in the rainforest when the temperature was only about 27°C, and felt like I was going to die.
