Newcastle is interesting, have they just had a relatively easy set of fixtures?
Yesish. Depends how you look at it. It does mean they have more opportunity for bonus points to come.

Plus a top 5 team have to win the FA Cup for 7th to apply and, as it stands, that needs to be Man City/Arsenal (one leaving next week), Spurs (one of our target teams), Man Utd (don't think they'll fade) or, should the unthinkable happen, Liverpool, although they too are a target team to be above.
I've a feeling a team outside the top may win the cup so 6th should be the target.
We could just cut out the middle man and win it ourselves.

Did someone question whether we could beat a team with a deep lying defence and 10 men behind the ball?

Remain 15 over but achieving expected points at home is huge for us. Still 5 over Europe. I'm getting a top four vibe...

Just can’t see us going down. I know that’s bold and a bit arrogant but I think we have too much to go. Fingers crossed lads and lasses 🤞

Great stuff.
So apart from Aston Villa and Newcastle we have won all our expected home games, plus got 2 bonus wins against Chelsea and Liverpool. We have started to turn around our ridiculously poor home form from the past few seasons and have now more home points than away this season.

What is the earliest the 'teams that can't catch us' thread has appeared?
Oh blimey that's a wrinkle I hadn't considered.
I'm guessing we've still got a couple of months to wait.

Southampton could still finish with 66 points mathematically, so we’re up to 11 games off that yet (obviously that could come down)

Do we need a top 4 line…..just for giggles obviously 😬
The thing is maybe this season will be lower than normal. A top 4 tracker could show us as being under but Liverpool, Chelsea and possibly Tottenham from last season’s top 4 won’t make the top 4 this year. So a lower than normal number of points might secure top 4.

Is the Newcastle game now TBA cos of the League Cup? Or have i got my wires crossed? That, Spurs and the Fulham game looking like European qualification 6-pointers. Who’d have thought we’d ever say that!
