Is it only me who is slightly concerned about getting into Europe? I look at similar teams who did qualify like West Ham, Leicester, Wolves, and think the extra games would affect injuries, fatigue etc. Teams apart from the big 6 who have a lot of quality in depth, seem to fade away quickly once they’ve played in the European competitions.

Got to have a target though right? If we assume we're not going to win the league, it's not very exciting to just hope to stay safely in mid table.

Europe's the next rung in the ladder of the club's ambition, in my opinion. Need to grasp the opportunity with both hands...or what's the point?

These teams are often at their peak when they qualify whilst we can hope to be still improving. Probably depends on how many players we can hold on to in the summer.

Either way it would be an awfully big adventure

It is definitely a concern, and it may mean we go backwards in league position next season if we are still in Europe but as long as we stay up surely we would still all want to play Europe? I'd trust Bloom and the club to manage it well and I suspect like our first progression into the Premier League it is always a case of two steps forward and one step back. If we finish 6th this season and then play in Europe next season and finish 13th in the league. I'd be more than happy. We could then give the league a good go the following season again.

Or we win the Europa and enter the Champions League the following season

Nope. I won't be happy until I'm drinking blood curdling local hooch in some dive in Moldova before our 5pm Thursday evening kick off.

I think teams who unexpectedly qualify for europe tend to just revert to their normal level of performance the following season, rather than being particularly hit by playing in Europe.
Which isn't to say there isn't a possibility of injuries etc., but that can happen anyway.

(17 would have been even better, but 15 is nice all the same)

Wow if we keep up our form we could end up on 70 points! That’s just plain crazy.
It’s even more bonkers than that.. first half of the season we almost doubled the “expected” points - 31 against 16. Second half of the season, we’re “expecting“ 24 - if we also double that, we could be nearer 80 points.

(If my sums are right, of course!)

Leicester dropped 2 expected points today, and they were already bottom of the tracker! (See post 319)

I'm with you on that one! Although I think it would be amazing, I think it's to soon & could unravel our amazing progress. We need more back up options 1st. I've never looked at playing in Europe before, if you can play one game to get the 'bragging rights' lose and come home, I'd be happy with that! Amazing that we're in with a chance that I'm going to have to start Googling how it works! :lolol: :albion2:
