No, it isn't. There's a lot of ignorance relating to our Armed Forces, mainly from the younger generation who either can't differentiate between the validity of action and the risk to the soldiers sent out there.

Being in the military doesnt make you brave.
Being in Afghanistan fighting for America is ridiculous.
TV advertisements offering careers in the military, when making thousands redundant, is just rude.
Military personel who have been 'under fire' in combat should recieve support.
Military personel leaving the military have had the training to equip them with civilian life, and should
have no trouble finding work.
Some will turn to drink and drugs...they would have anyway.

When did mercenaries become 'private security contractors'?
