Player's wages. The fans gate money is only part of the income, as is sponsorship, advertising, selling programmes etc etc etc.

I said this last week and I'll say it again. Charlie should have left in the summer with his head held high.

There is a distinction between a player simply not being good enough, regardless of how hard they try, and a player being good enough but not trying hard enough.

It's the same with Kerry Mayo - both players have been great servants to this club but time marches on and things change.

I expect both players have fallen down the pecking order after yesterday's display, and I bet McGhee can't wait to have Dodd back to full fitness.

Oatway was just hopeless yesterday and fans have every right to have a go at him because he was shit. If he can't take it then he shouldn't be a professional footballer and certainly not indulge in spats with supporters.

And if you cant take the fact they are going to have off days and aint gonna win every game then you shouldnt be a fan.

Race i agree with that 100%. I went to watch some of the most dire games ever when we played at the Priestfield. Back then we didn't really have choices, but now i expect us to play better than the likes of Oatway in the team.

The point being though that fans abusing him or any players on the pitch isnt going to make them play any better, some ppl seem to think it gives them a kick up the arse, it just doesnt!

Don't make me laugh. I've supported the club for more than 30 years. I've seen many, many off days and literally hundreds of games when we've played badly, so don't you dare say that to me.

We don't really have any better choices now because due to Bellotti and Archer ripping out the financial heart of the club we cannot match the wage demands of players so have to stick with superb team spirit and players giving their best even if they have less ability than the opposition.

I would rather have the likes of Kerry, Charlie and Tank to support than the likes of Rio Ferdinand on £110,000 a week who has NO connection with the fans, and is even too important to take a drugs test.

That argument doesn't convince as for the first time in ages Magoo was given a considerable amount of money to use in the pre season to strengthen the squad.
But was it spent wisely ?

Like i've said before Race, you probably know alot better after what happened with Tank. Call me stupid, small minded or whatever. But when i'm in football mode and all fired up, if Oatway is playing shit, i'm gonna let him know about it.

If that offends people then i'm sorry, but thats just how i react.

While i agree we can't go out buying superstars due to lack of money. We do have better resources now, and better players too.

For a start I was responding to something which El Presidente posted, not to something you said, so get your facts right in the first place.

We're clearly not going to agree but I maintain my right to criticise a player when I think he deserves it. Yesterday Oatway and others deserved it.

Are you denying that the fan's contribute to paying the wages of the players? If so, you're the one talking " uttter bollocks."

Yes, you do have that right. But if you know that exercising that inalienable right cannot improve things and will only make things worse, what kind of "supporter" chooses to do that?

Vocal abuse of players during the match is totally self defeating. It shows up your own inadequacies as any kind of a team player.

If you genuinely think that Charlie was is trying then by all means give him stick, if he is trying his best but it is not as good as those around him then why abuse him?

If I am teaching some students I don't slag off the less able, I try to encourage them, we all have different ability ceilings.
