Jesus - Halloween has obviously arrived early… this is akin to a Stranger Things upside down appointment, horrific.

His manic Bond villain vibes really are at odds with the M&S knitwear Sunday afternoon shoot with our right on Gareth … Indeed he makes Max Zorin look like Matthew from Sooty and Sweep.

He’d definitely laugh manically whilst falling to his death following an implausible high altitude (atop a suspension bridge, obviously) axe fight against an ageing Roger Moore.

“More… more power…”

I personally hate the name Colin it’s never associated with anything worthwhile
So much so that Colin Powell changed the pronunciation to 'colon'.

Ok, we covered this previously during the Euros. That's simply not true.

With regards to win percentages excluding caretaker managers like Carsley or single game managers like Allardyce, the top 6 are as follows.

Capello 66.7% (28 wins in 42 games)
Southgate 62.7% (64 wins in 102 games)
Ramsey 61.1% (69 wins in 113 games)
Hoddle 60.7% (17 wins in 28 games)
Greenwood 60.0% (33 wins in 55 games)
Eriksson 59.7% (40 wins in 67 games)

With the 2 previous foreign managers in 1st and 6th, you might have to do a bit more convincing here with an argument based on nationality alone.

So what you're saying is stats i.e. routine wins in qualifying games against minnows and meaningless friendlies negates Rob Green - USA, stinking the place out and being boo-ed off in a bore draw against Algeria, finishing 2nd in the EASY-est group imaginable where, as a consequence, faced the much harder tie V Germany where we were annihilated 4-1?

@hart's shirt has posted all the statistics.

I am happy to admit I don't want a foreign manager because foreign managers are not normally English.

There is no need for you to dress up the narrative with faux fact.
So your definition of success at International level is based on win percentages which are mostly made up of results in qualifying and friendlies?

and you would rate Capello as better and / or more succesfull than Venables and Bobby Robson?

Did a foreign coach ever fail to qualify for an international tournament?

No one is saying Capello or Sven did a GOOD job.

But to say the two foreign coaches we've had have been the worst is just incorrect.

Your irrational victimization of foreign managers is making me rethink my valueless racist prejudice against foreign managers.

Warming to Tommy now, I am.

Sven is warmly remembered, Capello less so

Granted, win percentage doesn't give the full picture of success.

But then again my understanding of "worst" wouldn't include the one with the best managerial record.

When it comes to logical positions, even the most anglocentric of supporters might consider that a bit of a reach.

A foreign alternative isn't wrong but this is the same as with Capello and Svennis. There appears to be little thought behind it. Tuchel is even more allergic to creative freedom than Southgate is. No Tuchel side has played anything but dire football since halfway through his second season in Chelsea.

You didn't win the war as much as they lost it...
look at history we wrote it, it means we won it.

I know, it's such a ridiculous appointment, you'd have thought the FA would have realised after Southgate that you don't need to have a succesfull record at club level to be an effective coach for England, especially when high profile predecessors with previous club success failed so miserably.

Are you saying that Southgate was an unsuccessful club manager and an effective England manager?

Imagine how effective and successful England will be with a successful club manager, like 'our' Tommy Tootle!.
