In terms of tactics and field placings, 'conservative' maybe.

In terms of selsction, absolutely not.

Root over Compton?
Bairstow over Morgan?

Not at all.

He's not great but Morgan has had many chances and not taken them. I don't think he should be dropped.

I don't think Morgan would be first choice. The only change I would do for the third test is. Compton in for Bairstow, and have Root back down the order.

(Can't believe I'm saying bring back Compton, but I don't feel comfortable with Root opening.)

Compton is badly out of sorts. England don't have strength in depth at the moment.

I'd do the same. England's top order has been playing too free and loose. Compton is solid. QED

Yes I did want Finn in for this one.

I just feel Cook is still a bit too conservative.

Must admit I was baying for Finn's blood on Sunday. But this was his home track, just hope we haven't been too hasty. Most of the "quality" paper commentators wanted to give him one more Test chance.

Compton did get a few runs against The Aussies in the warm up matches. Both for Somerset and Worcestershire, but after that his form went out of the Window against us at Taunton.

I just don't feel comfortable with Root opening with Cook, he is being wasted opening. He gives us stability in the Middle Order, which Bairstow isn't doing.

I have to say, it must be HARD to work with Geoffrey Boycott. I don't dislike his direct manner (it's good listening) but he has no social graces. He reminds me of this chap:

That's hardly surprising is it? Do you not think Enfield just MIGHT have had Sir Geoffrey (amongst others) in mind when he developed the character!?
