You just know that KP will produce in this series at some point. The time to drop him is when he goes through a series, if not two, failing completely.

The good news is that we are winning without Cook, KP or Trott scoring well yet. When they do, which they will, it will be a massacre.

Since his debut in 2005 he has scored a Test Match century in every calendar year I believe.

Comptons current average for LV 1 42.55

Playing for Somerset against Australia he made 81 and 34. After being asked by the ECB to play Compton in the Worcester team to play Australia he made 79 and 26. This gives an average of 55 against the Aussies. He may not be a superstar but he has Test 100's under his belt and deserves the chance to bed in as an opener.
I just get fed up with all the KP hype ending with yet another single figure score. For once he batted well in the 2nd innings at Trent Bridge but once again chased a wide one and dragged on when a decent knock was there for the taking.
And, as for "The Present Time ", can't you see that Cook and Trott are short of runs this series and you could hardly describe Root and Bairstow as "flourishing " ?
Root just completed 1000 first class runs this season. 70 not out today.

What do you think push for runs now and put them in for an hour tonight or build up the runs slowly until tea tomorrow if we can last that long then let them have a go ?

We won't be declaring tonight now - seems the tactic is to bat the Aussies completely out of the game.

We will try to give ourselves five sessions to bowl them out.

Fingers weren't under ball, they were to the side. Bottom of the ball touched the ground.

Not out

Over 66 - England 132-4 (Root 74, Bell 1)
"This is more like it, isn't it? After the madness of the first seven days in this series, here at last is one to sort the men from the T20 lightweights. The sort of day when you can have six Pimm's, sleep for three hours, and not really miss anything. Proper Test Cricket. A Day For The Purists. Bell off the mark with a single. Another drink? Don't mind if I do. Now where's that paper, Sudoku won't solve itself. Root miscues a pull shot off Watson, and there's no run."

I thought his fingers were underneath it and that he clung on with the ball wedged between two of them. I'd have given it, personally.

If they f.ucked Shane Warne off out of the commentary box on Sky then yes ok they can have the wicket for all the difference it will make.
Am going to have to turn the volume off if he doesn't stop going on.

That's superb.

I've just cooked a lovely Thai stir fry and we only added 4. Marvellous.

Not at all. Don't get me wrong, he is our most exciting player and is great to watch. Truth is, he is such a talent, that's what frustrates when he gets out cheaply to poor shots.

Only one player scored runs all the time, Don Bradman. It's easy to forget that these guys are mere mortals. In my lifetime only Gooch, Cook, Gower & Stewart (perhaps) come close to doing it with his level of consistency over a protracted period.

He's also fairly handy in ODI's & T20. I just can't stand it when people question his worth to the team. We've got 4 grinders in Cook, Root, Trott & Bell (to a lesser extent.) We can afford his extravagence.
