i think B365 have made an error - in play they NOW have

"2nd innings England: under 260 runs 10/11. over 260 runs 10/11."

now England will surely declare before betting to 250 in this innings? surely its an error and a cue to GO LARGE?

I think England will bat for approximately 60 more overs so I would as long as they don't get bowled out expect them to pass 250 for this innings.

at the current run rate (and with pooorer batsmen to come in) i dont think another 60 overs will yield over 260 runs in this innings?

I'd rather humiliate them than tease them. Get it done asap. Imagine if one of our players gets injured because we're out there longer than necessary?
Imagine if Anderson got injured when bowling again without a break. They'll get plenty of rest after the game, better to give them a rest now between innings. By the time they bat again they'll be demoralised, knowing they're playing for the draw, with very little chance of getting it.

Definitely the right decision to bat again, and I think the commentators agree too.

Bell, Bairstow, Prior, Broad & Swann still to bat. Don't forget if England keeps wickets in hand they will accelerate the scoring towards 4 an over particularly if Prior & Broad bat together for 20 overs thats the best part of 100 runs there.

yep, you are right, i just did some maths with the calculator - it is still a good bet (under 270 runs EVENS) - but not large, more a cheeky 20.

There's not a cat in hell's chance of England declaring at tea. Unless you mean tea tomorrow, which will probably be nearer the mark.

If we declare today and it's a big if it will be to have a 10 over dart before close tonight, but more likely a 10/15 over thrash tomorrow morning if we have wickets remaining.

England seriously need to rethink their obsession with KP. Getting an England tattoo is not enough to prove your loyalty to a team, you should get your head down and bat for the team. Compton has been sacrificed and Root pushed up to open too soon in his career to the detriment of the team.

Drop KP, reinstate Compton as opener and put Root at 4, problem solved.

You may have something personal against Pietersen, fine, it's childish but it's your decision. To suggest Compton should be in the team in his place is just clueless.

Lets just take a look at his great test innings for a minute

vs South Africa Headingly August 2102 149. Beyond a shadow of a doubt the best innings I've seen from an England batsman in my 25 odd years of watching cricket. He counter attacked against a rampant South African bowling line-up that no-one else had looked comfortable against. Some of the shots he played were just breathtaking.

vs Pakistan Dubai x2 February 2012 111* & 130 . Two ODI centuries of the highest quality in the space of 3 days against a bowling attack that had made his England colleagues look mediocre. Notable for his patient approach. Gritty determined innings in the toughest of circumstances.

vs India Mohali December 2008 144. Another backs to the wall masterclass and again in a series where most of his colleague struggled.

vs Australia Adelaide December 2006 158. A Test match remembered more for a Warne inspired 5th day mauling & Paul Collingwood's double hundred, it was actually Pietersen that stopped the rot against an Australian bowling attack up there with the best world cricket has ever seen.

vs Australia Oval September 2005 158. The innings that finally broke the back of the great Australian side, in only his 5th test match. Pietersen was nothing short of inspirational.

He is clearly an all time great, I just can't understand how anyone can question his place in this team, we will miss him massively when he does eventually retire.

If you're going to talk about yesteryear then we should bring back Ian Botham.

I'm getting to like Geoff Boycott summarising on the radio. Proper Yorkshire straight-bat talk :)

Listening to TMS through my pc at work yesterday I had to keep explaining why I kept laughing. My favourite from Boycott yesterday was "What a wonderful days cricket, I love watching Australians commit hari kari" :lolol:

The South Africa innings, the one I'm saying is the best I've ever seen from and England batman is less than a year ago. How is that yesteryear? Factoring that Pietersen was injured in the winter it's probably one of the last 5 test matches he's played in.

Clueless as well.

You just know that KP will produce in this series at some point. The time to drop him is when he goes through a series, if not two, failing completely.

The good news is that we are winning without Cook, KP or Trott scoring well yet. When they do, which they will, it will be a massacre.
