Not a chance. Put them 550+ behind with 5 sessions to go.

Why waste energy when we can wrap the Test up MUCH quicker than that? No point in prolonging proceedings when we're so far ahead.

If you want demoralising what could be more damaging then sending Watson and Khawaja back into the pavilion for the second time in the same day? If there are divisions in the side I want them blown open.

If we give Australia 5 sessions to bat out the match they might just believe they can do it; if we put them back in tonight I don't think they'll believe they can post a total they can defend.

Demoralising ? Shirley not !

That nice Mr Warne says they have all the momentum now ... 1 down but all the momentum ... :tosser:

and all those much-vaunted Aussie greats of yesteryear with their inspirational pre-match team talks and one-to-one motivational sessions!

No follow on please.

We need a bit of batting confidence ourselves. Nothing better on this wicket than starting a 2nd innings already 200 in the lead. Build a big total. then give yourself 4 or 5 sessions to bowl them out.

Cook got PASTED by the media, when he didn't enforce the follow on against NZ. With that still ringing in his ears, he almost certainly will stick Australia back in, (if he gets the chance). Not convinced I would though. Depends how the bowlers are feeling, as much as anything -Anderson was apparently knackered after Sunday - no point overcooking them.

Lords has a habit of flattening out later on in the Test. Swann is at his most threatening with a bit of bounce so I'd stick them back in.

I suspect we won't though, the England way is to bat the other team out of the game first and then win it.

Not a chance they'd enforce the follow on, why would you choose to take the risk of batting last on a dust bowl track?

Exactly your last point. If all goes to plan, you'd hope to basically give your bowlers Saturday, and the first session Sunday off.

Our batsmen need time in the middle as well. It would be good to see some of them knock themselves into form.

So much time left in the game, I think you have to bat if they are all out shortly.

We could win this without batting again.

What risk? The lead would be at least 200, Australia would have to post a total of 325 to stand ANY chance, and that's not likely to happen after the batfliddery we've experienced today.

I think you might be getting a bit too excited.

As I said above, some of our batsmen need time in the middle. Why take that risk? Bat tonight, tomorrow and Sunday morning, then 5 sessions to bowl at them when the pitch is at it's worse.

This as well, why risk having to chase 150 or something stupid on a day 5 pitch.

Day 5?? The Aussies will be lucky to get to the end of Day 3.

Last 10 overs - 5/1. They really are shit, let's just get this done now.

He's very good at being a workhorse bowler. Keeps going, but very rarely will cause a lot of problems. I never feel inspired when I see him coming on, but his record is not really that bad. I did wonder as to whether he would get back in (wasn't he injured; shoulder/arm??).

I'm not a hige Bresnan fan, though I thought he was superb in the series in Australia. However, if you look at his test match averages (batting & bowling) they are virtually identical to a certain A.Flintoff.

As I said, give the bowlers a rest, get our batsmen in and get some scores under the top orders belt. We could still give ourselves 2 days to bowl them out. It's a hot knackering day which are bowlers have been out in all day batting and bowling.

No point following on with so much time still left in the match.

Stick them back in, to bat again is just more boring defensive cricket from England. Let's sieze the advantage, we've only bowled 40 overs so far so tired bowlers should be no excuse, plus there's a weeks break before the next game.
