Now some would consider that racist. I think you'll find that LI may be of Irish extraction but he was actually born here so he's not a 'paddy'.

I don't believe that there is, or has ever been, such a thing as a "single British culture".

As previously mentioned the British culture of today is diverse made up of people from many different backgrounds and origins, but the one thing that should unite everybody, no matter what colour or religion they are, is the fact they are British first and foremost, there should be none of this Asian or Afro Caribean, Chinese and even Irish, if they are born in Britain they should class themselves as British, but they seem to prefer to maintain their roots, therefore isolating themselves from those who do regard themselves as British.

If they want to class themselves as Asiani and still live the way they would in Asia, then should they benefit from the the state as those who do class themselves as British?

One way of creating a more United Britain is removing the segregation that exists in our schools. We now have schools run only for Catholics, CofE, Muslims, and others. If our children are divided the conflict of religion and race will continue. Start with the children and show them that we are all the same no matter our creed or colour.

Well I've managed to read of all this and I'm sure most of you know where I stand on this issue. A few days ago on a similar thread I started to question whether my fellow Seagulls supporters were more than media-led sheep. You all (well 95% of you) have proved that on this thread that you're not. Reading this makes me proud that thought-provoking discussion can take place amongst the best football supporters in the country.

I am married to a muslim (one who drinks alcohol and wears bikinis but also respects ramadan) who was sickened by what was done in the name of her religion and she is a representative of a world religion where the majority believe in living in peace. The fact that the terrorist majority can potentially pigeonhole her and threaten the future of her British born children, those same children who will be English and proud to be so (and 100% BRIGHTON SUPPORTERS!) concerns her greatly. She has every right to feel that she is safe in this country.. a country she is proud to call her home. For her sake and for the many British-born Muslims we should think first and look a our own British house before we throw stones at others.

One of my colleagues was lost during the bombings... the people who have done this are sad dillusioned young people who threw their lives (and others) away because someone brainwashed them in the name of religion. It is.... it is still a crime... pure and simple, what religion does not matter..... equally horrendous things have been done in the name of christianity, of any religion, of any belief or any country.
You have hit the nail on the head sir,Murder is murder, for me religion does not come into it,If you are a murderer surerly you are going against whatever faith you practice
As the late great Dave Allen once said"may your god go with you"

I'm really curious, the 3 stands for, what, your favourite REICH?

I'm hugely relieved that you are the best the Sussex BNP could come up with when they needed someone to come in and goosestep among Albion fans

And his rather foulmouthed puppet Lord Charles might have reminded you it was Dave Allen.

Women have equal rights to men? Do you live in the same country? Compared to Islamic countries thne yes. But can you honestly say that women have equal rights?

To be fair in some circumsances they have more. We're supposed to make allowances every month, they retire five years earlier than men and they get maternaity leave when they decide to procriate. Oh and when was the last time you saw a woman offer he seat to a man ?

Okay though joking apart, the subjegation of women by Moslems is not really acceptable in this culture, the one where they choose to live is it ? Have you ever realised that some Moslem men won't allow their wives to learn English ? Slightly off the point I know but I think it's worth mentioning.

Whilst all you lot debate this, the right grow stronger, and there is eff all you can do about it.

Taken from the Barking & Dagenham Recorder.

"The British National Party has lost its only councillor in London. Daniel Kelley, who represented Goresbrook ward on Barking and Dagenham council, resigned citing ill health.

Kelley was elected in a by-election last September. In his short term of office, he distinguished himself only for telling a journalist that he handn't a clue about what he was doing. "There's meetings that go right over my head and there's little point in me being there," Kelley told the Barking & Daghenham Recorder. "I'm wasting my time."

Kelley never spoke in the council chamber and did next to nothing as a councillor, despite making all sorts of wild promises to get himself elected. He even stated that he would only attend the minimum number of council meetings - one every six months. A by-election has been called and the date for the election is 23rd June 2005. The BNP won the seat from Labour last September with over 51% of the vote."

For those of you who want to know the by-election result, click here http://www.barking-dagenham.gov.uk/9-democracy/elections/results/elect-by-goresbrook-05.html

Went to the Kings Cross memorial tonight and there are HUNDREDS of messages from muslims disassociating themselves from the bombings.

If you get the chance go and pay a visit.

Just a little court yard next to the station now.

There are personal messages from people from all over the world, different faiths, perhaps some with no religion, who have gone to show their respects.

Pretty much sums the place up rather than a crap tea towel from Leicester Square.

I was thinking about how we had won the Olympic bid with a similiar expression of the diversity of London just the day before.

Spot on. I think we were probably a few minutes apart in visiting it. Very moving to see all the flowers and the messages from so many different communities and nationalities. I left feeling both very chocked but also encouraged by the display of humanity and solidarity.
