How desperate are you to prove a point?

Jeez...does it matter how long a person has supported this club, or how many programmes and match-day burger boxes they have collected??

No it doesn't!

I'm with Beachy on this one.

piss off

Mark Potter, you bad fan.

I have only been to about 5 games, I admit that (and spent probably 200 quid in the process), but can you not see the potential in this team?

Last season was DIRE. We had a young side who needed to lesrn.
This season we needed to combine what we learnt last season with experience.
Next season is the season we should be ready, and classed as genuine contenders for promotion.
I always thought we would finish around 12, and with several games in hand, I think we will.

I dont want us to sack Wilkins, I want us to be one of the few clubs who stick with there man

Blimey Adrie, it seems that being at Uni is having some sort of sensibility effect on you. I'm in agreement with you on this one.

Keep it up.

Tranmere are in the promotion race, FACT. So we didn't beat them, we didn't lose either. Same old handful of moaners, personally I will happily send you the directions to Selhurst or Fratton Park if you would prefer that.

I know it is as relevant as fried eggs at this point, but I was chatting to a Brentford fan at work who went to Barnet.

they had 40% of the attendance at Underhill and he recons Nathan Elder is the best signing they have made in years.

He held the ball up, chased down the defenders, set up the goals including winning a penalty, brought players into the game and was cheered off the pitch at the end.

Hopefully he has found his level in the Fourth Divi and he continues in that vein.

Genuinely nice bloke and one who was desparately dissapointed he diodnt get a better chance at Brighton according to the local radio here.

Looks like I made the right decision not busting a gut to get to Withers last night

Typical masive over-reaction from someone desperate to get a bite out of people.

Yes, the game was dull. Mainly IMO because Tranmere were set up for a point. Every time we broke they were very very quick at getting people back behind the ball. They were closing down the full backs and getting people back quickly. They're a good side on a good run.

As for the subs, I'm not convinced Robinson was fit, he took a knock on Saturday and needed to come off and I think Wilkins felt that it was better to keep him on the bench rather than risk him being out for weeks. Why have him on there then? Maybe we have nothing else and would have brought him on if we really needed to. That said I agree that Bowditch should have gone down the middle and Hart wide.

Mayo for Butters is obvious. 2 games in 4 days for Guy, and they had just brought on Greenacre, who we all know about, so it made sense to stick Mayo in the holding role that El Abd had done so well and drop Bomber back. After Saturday I can see why Wilkins wasn't going to fully on the offensive at that stage. But, once again, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

I don't think it was so much that we were playing for a draw as they were and they made it very difficult for us to break them down. We made a few chances, Coxy's free kick that Murray was almost on the end of, Forster's run, Murray's header that was straight at the keeper, the disallowed goal, another chance or two that Murray had... it wasn't all negative at all. I don't really remember them having any real chances.

the only thing I would add to this is that I thought we (Tranmere) were there for the taking tonight, that was the worst I have seen us play for a while and didnt think you capatilised on it

I was surprised in the second half when you did drop deeper, especially as I thought you had the better of the first half, we played better in the second but were still nowhere near what we can do

But... to be honest you could have had thousands of shots in the second half because without a telescope there was no way of me knowing really:D

I know Tranmere are in the play offs but they were there for the taking.
Not sure why we played so negatively at home, but we created chances and kept the ball well, but just didnt create any clear cut oppurtunities until the header in injury time

Once again Forster ran his nuts off and created himself a great chance running through from the centre circle.

Murray looked off the pace, which is why he got taken off, but Hart had no clue what he was doing when he came on and left Forster up on his own.

Playing 1 up front at home when its 0-0 is pretty poor tactics, especially when they were also being so negative.

Bowditch was causing havoc running at the defence, and should have gone upfront instead of Hart

I thought they had a certain penalty when Elphick bought down their striker, but the ref didnt give it luckily, as it was late on

My BIGGEST rant is Kuipers - Why the fcuk does he time waste so much, get the ball out, up top, not piss about with it in the box, bouncing it, then dropping it on the floor, looking at it for 5 mins, befroe deciding to kick it to the centre back.

Pretty boring game, but I will still go to all the games, and there is no love lost between me and watching Albion

I wasn't entirely happy with the way we played tonight - I though in general; the game was pretty negative, but I do think the original post is a massive over-reaction.

As you state, Tranmere are in the play off positions, so they are clearly no pushover, and they also clearly came for the draw as they really didn't push forward at all. Tonight I think it was a case of comign up against a very well organised defense and not really having enough to make decent chances.

I think the reasons for the substitutions have been covered. I was dissapointed not to see Robinson for 15 minutes. I'm normally pretty critical of him, and he certainly wouldn't be in my team, but as a substitute he is a decent option who can inject some life into the game, especially on the back of a fantastic goal against Cheltenham.

I don't think the match tonight was too bad - it certainly wasn't the most exciting football we've seen, but we never looked like conceding, it was simply a case of not creating enough chances. However the time to judge Wilkins is after these five home games. It might be that tonight against a high-flyer, with a heavy fixture list ahead of us, the win wasn't the most important. If we don't go all out to beat Cheltenham then I will start to get a bit restless.

Spot on. It may not have been the most exciting game but I thought we coped well with a typical Ronnie Moore team - organised, big, fit, pressed well and despite their obvious quality still looking for a draw. I thought Richards handled the winger well, with a lot of support from Cox and all over the pitch there are now players of quality. Adam played well in midfield apart from a five-minute spell when he came close to being booked. Mayo was faultless and still gets stick.

The Hart substitution seemed a bit strange but we weren't getting far with Murray and neither wide player was doing that badly. Hart's presence did seem to allow Bowditch to get a bit more forward but Tranmere defended well all night. For this division they are a good side so that's not surprising.

I didn't think we set out for a draw (4-4-2 with 2 wingers - defensive?) and Robinson hasn't been playing that well to be considered an automatic choice because of 1 goal. The concentration on possession was understandable after Saturday, if a little dull to watch, but a clean sheet, another point and the makings of a decent side. And by that I obviously mean - for this division within our financial constraints.

The other point worth making is how many of Wilkins' babes were out there tonight - 2 homegrown players plus two subs. So we are signing players from somewhere.

Can't agree with you at all about Kuipers.

Firstly, he released a quick ball from hand on numerous occasions.

Secondly, as a keeper, it simply isn't as straightforward as banging the ball high upfield as soon as you can. If you have been defending it usually means you don't have enough numbers upfield to warrant such a kick - it would go straight to their defenders. You have to give your strikers time to get into position.

On one occasion last night someone behind me was screaming for FDM to pump it upfield. That would have been the very worst thing to do as the chances of it going to one of our players were almost zero. Had he done that, he would have been accused, again, of poor kicking and giving it away to the oppostion.

I thought he had a fine game yesterday. His kicking weakness didn't show at all and, apart from one poor punch, he commanded his area very well.

To be honest, I dont think ANY of our players did anything really WRONG, it's a shame we didn't capitalise on the several chances we had and I dont think Murray was very effective, hence his sub, and the Trannies were def. wanting a point, but we could have taken three, had we taken a couple of chances. Hey ho.
