If you are trying to offer sensible explanation, or feel obliged to defend attendance at Withdean (a place an 11 year old once asked me if they were 'allowed to play at'), strikes me as a waste of time, to some, you have to go to every game, no matter what, to be considered a fan.

Get a grip - been to withdean twice thanks never again. Went to the Goldstone about 200 times

This is essentially the answer for all those holier than thou arses who think because they put in some time at Withdean, it gives them a god given right to slag the rest of us off.

I have been to that crap-hole a dozen times or so,... but yes hundreds of times at the Goldstone, and 70-ish away grounds,.... we can bloody well go to whatever game we want.

Where do you expect the extras to come from who will fill Falmer in the first season or two, or do these cretins think the new stands should only be for the domain of the 5.5k who currently go to home games?

Get into the real world.

Not really the time to be talking about such things really and is just gonig over old ground.

Some people are passionate supporters and would go to most games but can't. I've only managed to make Yeovil and Saints away due to being at Uni, and Albion are effectively my second team because of prices so I follow Worthing, but does that make me less worthy of a Villa ticket than others?? NO!! I paid my money for White membership a long time ago and when they came on sale I bought a ticket. Doesn't matter whether people consider that "glroy hunting" because I say i am not.

I don't like Withdean so don't go there anymore, I have been to Luton, to Watford, Coventry (Old ground not Ricoh), Rochdale, Halifax, Crewe, Gillingham, West Ham, Spurs and the Millenium. I think I have earned my right not to be called a "glory hunter" as have many others!!!

It's probably worth adding that if it wasn't for many of the 'plastic'(WTF does that mean anyway?!) fans that went evey week to the Goldstone and fought for the survival of this club there may well not be a BHA for ANYONE to support now.

Having battled for survival and won people are entitled to feel 'war-weary', and unappreciated at Withdean where they pay 3x the amount they did at the Goldstone to watch comparably bad football in worse facilities and less atmosphere!

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
If Bloom can afford a £90 million stadium, he can afford to lower prices significantly next season in order to have it full every week, and increase our chances of winning a few games which will help should we be pushing for promotion to the Championship at Falmer....

Pretty much full now without having to lower prices.

People are entitled to go or not goto Withdean if they wish, i know people who havent been to Withdean but goto Away games also just because havent been to Withdean doesnt mean dont know the players or that they dont care for the club, i understand the point your trying to get across but its a bit one dimensional view.
Withdean people get wet, cold and get a really a conference standard stadium, people who went to Goldstone like myself for years will come back over time and they still been following club but just cant bring themselves to goto withdean or maybe just dont enjoy withdean as no atmosphere.
I goto withdean whenever i can still purely to see brighton play but its a poor stadium, i also went to the goldstone and saw us at Gillingham when our home ground quite a few times.
Also we need a lot more fans as people who just goto withdean will be nowwhere near enough to even quarter fill the Amex, and our club will not progress so we need these fans back.

We will sell many more season tickets at Falmer than we get people go to Withdean but unless the team is playing well we will struggle to fill Falmer after the first couple of seasons which is probably why the club are being very active in promoting ST etc.

Well that's quite simply not going to be true is it. We're going to sell out season tickets. Coventry didn't.

By the third season at Falmer if we haven't set the world alight average gate - 13,000 we'll be similar to Huddersfield.

People seem to forget that in our last glory season when we made the Playoff final in 1991 we only managed a paltry average of around 8,000 and in those days you could turn up and pay on teh gate now take into account the hassle of getting a ticket in advance the transports issues around getting to Falmer and 13,000 would seem very acceptable.

That's about right, there needs to be instant success to keep new fans interested otherwise they won't go.

What is interesting is that from 01st April a lot of money starts to come into the club either by full payment or direct debits of season ticket holders. In my view this should bolster the transfer kitty significantly.

Here here, the snobbery of some of our fans amazes me considering the task of increasing our regular fan-base from about 5-6k to over 15k.

Luckily for us these people are not in charge otherwise you would have to sit an Albion mastermind session and produce a Gillingham stub to even be considered for a ticket. I sometimes wonder if they would be happy for Falmer to only get gates of 5k 'proper fans' rather than sell out to all these floating supporters who can't even be bothered to make every single Albion game.

The more the merrier really. What do we need to be getting to break even each week?

Even if we were in the premier league i doubt we would fill it every game, In all honesty how many "fairweather fans" would be bothered about seeing Wigan, Blackburn, Blackpool etc?

Completely and utterly different envirtonment around football now. It is far more popular and far more people go. We've missed out on this because of Gillingham/Withdean.

The stats have been gone over on here before, but I recall that given the same ground, league level, etc you would expect now to have roughly double your crowd from the late 80s/early 90s based on the same level of support. Quite simply - more people go to football now.
