You are right, it does need to change. A more centre left Labour Party would have walked this election. Unfortunately Momentum have taken over and made Labour unelectable.

This is serious bullsh*t -

The LP manifesto isn't that radical - it doesn't even restore the full taxes on the rich or the level of public spending that existed in 2010.

The name gives it away
The postal votes should be opened as the ballot boxes are opened on voting day, why are they even allowed to open them earlier?
Actually they are opened before the ballot boxes and at some Councils as they come in. They have to be for the security information included to be checked and verified. The ballot papers are then bundled and held securely but not sorted or counted. They are only counted with the main ballot boxes after the poll closes.

Ben the Green defends racist who compares the Jews to Nazis.

https://www.thejc.com/comment/comme...now-the-truth-about-chris-williamson-1.493936

I'm working early tomorrow so there's probably 24 hours till I cast my vote. You and JRG are enough to turn anyone Tory.

Well do so then, its obviously your natural home.

As with Corbyn, Chris Williamson is one of the leading anti-racist campaigners of his generation. To accuse him of anti-semitsm or racism of any kind is absurd and outrageous. The Jewish Chronicle, a zionist supporting periodical, that well known font of truth, was recently admonished by IPSO for its lies over Louise Ellmans problems with her local party in Liverpool - is hardly a reliable source of information on these matters. As far as I can gather from the article, assuming its correct in any way, he didnt compare Jews to Nazis, but liked a tweet which made reference to Bonhoffer who spoke out against the nazis and made comparisons with people supporting the anti-semitism smear campaign against the labour party, largely the corporate media, the right of the labour party, the military industrial complex, and zionists, some of whom may or may not be Jewish.. Their problem with Williamson is his support for the treatment by the Israeili government of the palestinian people. To assume, as you seem to, and as does the Jewish Chronicle, that this powerful lobby group is led by or composed mainly of Jewish people is itself anti-semitic in the real sense of the word.

As I said yesterday Labour will already have excuses and blame lined up, it wont be that people dislike Jezza nor his stupid polices being rejected.

Indeed.

It will be that the electorate were fooled by Boris the liar.

And Corbyn and his inner sanctum will convince themselves the electorate will see the error of their ways after Boris has ****ed everything up. And in five years time, 75 year old Jezza will ride to the rescue, the foolish electorate having learned the error of their ways.

Delusional. And so sad (for the electorate).

No compromise with the electorate ???

That worked well in the early 80s, and you consider it a plan now?

The name of the game is to win, not ponce around, snooty, on a high horse. FFS.

Just a quickie, what are the IRA doing with themselves these days now they have been talked out of terrorism and are part of the democratic process ?

In the North - they have been in bed with the DUP and have been implementing Tory cuts on health, education, housing, welfare .......

Yes of course you should stay in the party, but not actively campaign against the leader or party and accept the conference decisions in good grace. Equally accept the right of mps such as Chris Williamson to stay in the party too and not be hounded out for alleged support for anti-semitism.
The treatment of Williamson actually demonstrates how the Blairites are still in control of LP HQ.

The LP needs to selected candidates that the local electorate want to vote for. Or you get a Tory government.

Labour needs to select candidates that support LP policy as decided by the LP conference - and then go and demonstrate how these policies benefit 95% of the people in Britain.

:lolol: you're sooo far left even the soft sops in Momentum are trendy liberals.

Never claimed to be anything other on the 'far' left - If you are a socialist you cannot do anything other than support working class people and fight a system that deprives working class people of basic human rights.

Well, Corbyn is a shit salesman, then.

Renationalising the railways is a bit of a give away, though.

Uncosted nonsense (just as the tory's is).

Anyway, the name of the game is Get Brexit Done so the mad spending promises by both sides is irrelevant.

Dunno why, Corbyn's promises seem shitter though. Maybe it is because he has also studiously refused to get Brexit done (one way or the other) and comes across as a daffy old tit. I say that as someone who will be voting labour tomorrow

whats that, about 1% of the total public spend?

Context, though, to be fair. It all depends where the 1% is removed and how.

If I removed 1% of your brain (a tea spoon would do the job) you'd likely be a bit miffed

Succint and to the point. I lifted this from a tweet earlier this week from Harry Lambert a smart young journo, who I think will go far.

"The progressives of any particular generation are often conceited, doctrinaire, blinkered and intolerant… The asininities of those who are 'with it' frequently surpass the follies of those who are against 'it' (whatever 'it' means)." - Robert Blake, 1997 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Bl

Blake of course was a right wing historian, so we can immediately right off his opinions, except...

whats that, about 1% of the total public spend?

The £8.6billion given to the richest 15,000 people in Britain with the Tories tax cut from 50%-45% would have paid for the following -

an extra 20,000 nurses, 10,000 extra police community support officers (PCSOs), 10,000 extra police officers, and 20,000 newly qualified teachers - every year for the whole five years.

or

60,000 bursaries for nurses, midwives and other health professionals, 10,000 extra nurses, 10,000 extra PCSOs and 10,000 newly qualified teachers - every year for five years.

or

it could have reversed the social care crisis by putting £1.7billion a year back into the sector

Instead it benefited 15,000 people who gained an average of £554,000 each

I wondered if the "z" word would come out. You've used it twice. Well done.

A business that is just about breaking even, paying the staff minimum wage, doesn't really sound like a viable concern. There is no room for error and one setback will wipe the business out.

But we need to keep millions in poverty or these business owners may really struggle.

In case anyone missed this:

I'm still a bit undecided about my vote direction this coming Thursday.

I've obviously taken into consideration what I consider to be the following swaying points on the two main parties.

On the one hand the Conservative Boris Johnson is a bit of a rascal with the ladies and can sometimes bend the truth a bit, he’s also a bit posh.
