Today’s reported deaths figure of 60 is 15.4% up on last week (52) - presume this relates to Easter holiday catch-up effects.

On Wednesday there were 189 confirmed COVID hospital admissions in England, vs. 225 the previous week (-16.0%).
The seven-day average drops to 179 from 231 a week ago (-22.5%). The peak was 3,812 (-95.3%).
2,321 beds are occupied with confirmed COVID patients (2,784 last week).
Today’s 3,150 reported cases figure meanwhile is 7.4% down on last week (3,402). That’s the lowest Friday since 4 September (1,940).

The PCR positivity rate in England remains at 1.6% - the lowest since 5 September - having peaked at 18.3% as we headed into 2021.

It’s been announced that UK estimates of the R value and growth rate will no longer be produced.
The estimated range for England is unchanged at 0.8 to 1.0.

Normal service resumes............all good anyway. The continuing fall in infections is quite remarkable and for me at least unexpected :
Infections - 2,589, rolling 7 day down 32%
Deaths - 40 (no change in rolling 7 day - 254 - think this might be a bit of a statistical quirk due to Easter reporting but will see over the coming days)
Admissions - 221, rolling 7 day down 21%
Jabs - 106k 1st and 450k 2nd, cumulative 32m & 7m
In hospital - 2,862

UK reports largest number of second jabs in one day.
A total of 450,136 second doses were received on Friday - with 106,878 first doses also administered.
The previous record was set on Thursday when 449,269 second doses were reported - in addition to 96,242 first doses.
