Not to mention the possession stats! Hardly De Zerbi esque, 30% possessionExcept we lost 1- 0 in the cup and lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea under RDZ last season?

And yet did the double over them the previous season.Except we lost 1- 0 in the cup and lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea under RDZ last season?
Same as after literally every other defeat. About a dozen new threads questioning Fab, tactics, recruitment, club going backwards etc, another 3 or 4 scapegoating various players and a lickers v bedwetters binfestWhat will happen to this board when we fail to beat Southampton at the weekend?
eek!
That would be an "old history" lesson...And yet did the double over them the previous season.
I suppose if we're praising doubles then Hürzeler is the first Brighton manager ever to do the double over Man Utd. Then again United are really f***ing shitAnd yet did the double over them the previous season.

It does show that spaffing a squillion on players, taking the points hit then kicking on can pay off. Here's where we were at the same stage last year...... https://www.worldfootball.net/schedule/eng-premier-league-2023-2024-spieltag/25/
Spectacular improvement by Nottingham Forest!
It shows what can happen with virtually no injuries to their squad. We can hope that we'll also have a much more settled squad for the run-in and have the luxury of even naming the same starting eleven,It does show that spaffing a squillion on players, taking the points hit then kicking on can pay off.
lets hope our season doesn't collapse like last . . . .could still be one of our best ever.
As I said on the tracker thread, 15 more points out of an available 39 ends with the 2nd best season in our historyIt does show that spaffing a squillion on players, taking the points hit then kicking on can pay off.

Here we go thenAs I said on the tracker thread, 15 more points out of an available 39 ends with the 2nd best season in our history
I'd take that. Means we have to turn up for Fulham, B'Muff and Palace though, which is far from guaranteedHere we go then
Saints A - 3 it must be
B'muff H - 3 it needs to be for Europe
Fulham H - 3 another must win for Europe
Man City A - 0 lets get real
Villa H - 1 if we're lucky
Palace A - 3 why not?
Leicester H - 3 it must be
Brentford A - 0 as ever
West Ham H - 3 it's him boo
Newcastle H - 3 questionable
Wolves A - 3 send them down
Liverpool H - 0 amid celebrations for Ali Mac
Spurs A - 1 they are on holiday, could be 3
Total = 25 points
We’ll struggle in the next three games, then go and beat Man City you watch. Here we go then

Draw Soton, draw Muff, beat CitehWe’ll struggle in the next three games, then go and beat Man City you watch.
Lovely thought. Would give us 62 points, same as our Europa League qualifying season of 22/23. Incidentally 62 points would have got us 7th last year and no Europe because - God knows how - ManUre won the FA Cup of course. But 62 points this season (with the strong likelihood of having 5 clubs in the Champions League) would almost certainly guarantee European football. Here’s hoping! Here we go then

Not sure about the De Zerbi-like ness of the performances. From my perspective watching every game this season is FH’s original tactics and ideas he came with didn’t work in the PL.
We’ve almost completed a full circle of trial and error and ended with two most DeZerbi like performances of the season against Chelsea.
Funny old world.
