I was proper disappointed with englishes when I went there last year, given it's reputation. Living off that reputation I think. £20 for a baked fish on it's own and you had to pay extra for veg to go with the fish, WTF is that about
Fishy Fishy which is 5 doors away does nicer food at half the price. If you want to see how a proper fish restraunt does it get the train to london and go to J Sheeky in the west end.
Indeed it is....checked it out on the evening of the Carlisle match a week or two ago as the wife made a rare appearance back in Brighty with me (her first home game since Man City and probably her last til The Seagulls' Nest opens in 2011, the plastic glory-hunting shamester).
Had been waxing lyrical about our resurgent form and flairtastics so I shot myself in the foot there!
Luckily the day was saved (missus is a sucker for a good meal ) by the rather excellent cuisine and stylish environment that was Sabai.
Neither of us are easily impressed but this place was the biz, providing one of the best and THE most authentic Thai menu we've tasted....revitalising our underwhelmed impression of the Brighton restaurant scene from years earlier.
