Oh well. Still time for it to change.

As it stands, the further West you are the better.

I won't bother looking at the models until the 06z rolls out at 9:30am. Hopefully we'll see a shift East.

Are we getting any snow in Brighton this weekend as it stands?

...until when?

Based on the latest runs, it should start Friday 6am and finish.....Saturday 9pm.
Bristol could be one of the prime spots for snow lovers!

Thanks Papa. Next question. Will there be a chance I can get a day off work Monday based on the fact I get snowed in easily transport wise where I am

Considering the trains get stopped by a few leaves on the track and the first hint of ice, quite possibly

It depends on Sunday. If Sunday is mild Monday should be fine, but if it's either cold or snowy (well Sunday night) then you could be having a day off.

Haha. True. But a little snow and a flump of snow makes all the difference

Ah okay. I was hoping for a big blob of it. Seems unlikely now though :(

Back in Sussex
So, model readers, if it plays out as predicted, would driving from Bristol mid-Friday afternoon look a foolish thing to attempt right now?

Got a feeling down here on the coast there will be not be much snow. Inland may be a different story though!

Usually agree, but this time it will be bitterly cold on the coast too .... All the forecasters are agreed on that.

So the precipitation in Sussex will be snow everywhere, and with coastal air being inherently more moist, the snow should be good down here. This has happened quite often before.

IF the snow gets to here (i.e Crawley) I should imagine it'll be around 1pm. Probably quite light so by 6pm there could be around 2 to 3cm. Then some models have it getting heavier from then through to Sat, HOWEVER some have the snow petering out so we end up with a dusting. I expect more corrections to the SW, which will mean more people (especially East Sussex eastwards) missing out altogether!

Definitely, leave earlier if you can, even then the snow for Bristol is meant to happen during early Friday

For those who are concerned that the snow may miss us in Sussex - this is the NAE (high resolution model that only goes to 48 hours)

This is midnight to 6pm Friday

Notice that the precipitation is snow all the way across the channel, so even with the warm sea beneath it's snow to sea level the whole way in our part of the world

Looks ok?

Gone back to heavy snow on my Met Office app from 6PM Friday until early Saturday morning - looking very bad for Birmingham travel.

Some light snow as well tomorrow evening apparently.

They look much better for us than the GFS precipitation charts!
