Hey papa, I know your getting inundated with questions but can I ask what does it look like for the Thames Estuary and my location southend at the moment?
The models show snow cloud heading from west to east and was wondering if it would fade away once it hit us as the Birkin's are meant to driving down to Sussex to see friends Saturday

The way things are trending you are in danger of missing most of the frontal snow, but as the wind backs Easterly, you should get lots of showers off the North sea.

Thanks papa, although I want to see friends this weekend, I'm strangely upset by this. I bloody love snow me, and as I suspected, it looks like it'll fade away by the time it hits us. If we can't see friends and the Albion game is off at the very least I want to go sledging with the kids. But I know it could all change, so we will see

Spoke to someone in the family who works for Network Rail about what they are doing for the snow.

Apparently the new snow clearance trains, which were created after the 2010 chaos in the SE, are already being mobilised and put into position. Staff are also on standby in 4x4 vehicles to get to line problems too. Train companies are running ghost trains as well to keep the lines clear.

I'd say there's a good chance things will run, but if staff can't get in - then nothing will run !!

Oh, Met Office is now back saying heavy snow.

Yep. We've already had the typical precautions, constant emails and so on regarding safety in 'adverse weather' conditions from the Uni Staff, all quite silly really. As i say, not forecast above freezing until at least a week's time, and snow forecast from tomorrow night until Sunday.

Lets wait and see.

Sheffield always seemed to get a decent dump of snow when I studied there. I sometimes used to drive home over Snake Pass, which always seemed to get blocked even when it was only light in town.

Changing subject somewhat is the Leadmill still going strong? I remember when it was 60p a bottle night!

Not been above zero for well over 24 hours in Leeds, bitterly cold outside Bed tonight waiting for a Taxi.

Looking at the latest on net weather I can't help thinking we are edging towards a disappointment in Worthing. Just looks a bit too warm for it to fall as snow and settle.

If the Birmingham does get called off, it had bloody better clump it down in Southampton. No football and pissing down rain will probably send me on a killing spree...

Still looks on to me. This is for Worthing. 95-100% chances for 36 hours. Doesn't look like rain. The amount of snow has been adjusted down, but it's still going to be a good fall.

But is it going to stop me flying out of Gatwick at 7.45am on Saturday?

I'm pretty sure that Worthing will emerge fairly un-carpeted, As a child my hopes were constantly dashed due to our little mico-climate nestling here between the sea and the Downs. If it falls, most will go north of The Downs, if it settles, more will settle north of the Downs, as we speak, its pretty cold but, north of the Downs it will be colder.
