Yes, he is a good commentator but his point seems to have only been made once England started doing it. For the Aussies it was to encourage England’s batting aggression whereas for England it is to counter the negativity of Australia. Takes two to tango and anybody complaining about the short stuff could equally be talking about Australia’s unwillingness to try to score runs.
The Aussies don't really need to change what's happening at the moment. Time out of the game is in their favour. And they haven't spent the last few months telling people they don't care about the result only on performance and entertainment

Meanwhile in Zimbabwe Scotland have beaten The West Indies by 7 wickets in the ICC World Cup qualifying Super 6 stage. The West Indies won't be going to the world cup. Scotland still in with a shout.

This is what proper test cricket is all about apparently and is one of the reasons why it is struggling. The proper application of Bazball by England in their first innings would have meant that they would not have had to resort to this short pitched borefest so they have partially brought it upon themselves in this test, but also they cannot try to make test cricket entertaining on their own if the opposition want to slow the game down. The entertainment will come when England try to chase down whatever total they are set in the 4th innings.

I've been following the score on a train this afternoon.
The score's going so slowly that until I came on here and saw people moaning about nothing happening I was considering the possibility that the cricinfo app had conked out.

Let’s not defend this utter shite we’re seeing. Test cricket DIES if everyone continues to play with strategy like this.

Yeah, it may win you the game but no one will be watching, and they’re odds on to win the game if they take a swing at it and go for some runs.

Australia in my lifetime have always been a front foot team. It was them that redefined opening the batting, it was them that redefined batting at 6 and 7. This is bullshit. They’re trying to make a point but there is no point. They’ve got a 330 lead with 5 wickets in hand. They could be declaring to have 20 mins before tea at us then go again, evening session then have the morning. This is attritional rubbish.

I'm not defending what we're seeing, it's rubbish. But my point was I'm not sure you can blame the Aussies that much. We're choosing to continue bowling like this and we're the ones talking about entertainment and have taken some really stupid decisions in the last few tests with entertainment and moving the game forward in mind

This is woeful cricket let’s be honest, if test cricket was always like this I just wouldn’t bother.

Probably a sign of what’s to come in the series now both teams literally can’t get any runs.

But how would it be entertaining to pitch the ball up and watch the Aussies score 500 ? If we want a platform to win this match in entertaining fashion we need to bowl them out. 6 down now.

Not even getting hopes up because all we are going to get is another barrage of this when England bat, it’s literally impossible to score off it..

Q to anyone old enough to remember (as a 90’s baby) apparently these tactics were fairly common in the 80’s, how did teams combat it then? It just seems impossible to score from without taking risks that will eventually get you caught.

It was do much simpler when we all agreed that England were just generally a bit shit. Now we all seem to agree that England are a bit shit but are arguing over "why" we are a bit shit (and for some inexplicable reason trying to bring Australia into it) :ROFLMAO:
