Have the accounts been filed at Companies House yet? Still a bit confused about the size of the loss TBH.

They were filed on the day of the press release. Companies House haven't managed to upload them yet though.......

The club overspent last season deliberately. They brought foward expenses like the electronic advertising boards to avoid it going on this seasons accounts. I would hazard a guess that there was a long list of expenses being brought forward and we have only spent £500k purchasing Stephens this season whereas last year we bought Ulloa for £2m.

I mentioned that front-loading costs was my hope / hunch earlier, but would really like El Pres or similar to say they have reviewed the accounts and, yes, this is so. Not enough detail available at present IMHO.

Average gates are only going to be about 1k higher this year, unless there's a surge towards the end of the season, so about £350-£400k extra.

As for transfer fees paid, I was under the impression that this went down as player contract amortisation; ie Ulloa, at 2m for a 4 year contract, will go down as a £500k pa cost each year. Although I've no idea how it works out when we renew or extend a deal.

Similarly, the 2012/13 Accounts for the Albion's holding company (BHA Holdings Ltd) and the stadium company (The Community Stadium Company Ltd) are not yet posted.

You'd spread the remaining value of the registration over the new contract period.

Yep, exactly so. Unless the club took the opportunity to re-value the registration to a (presumably) higher level than the then current book value, which is something that historically the club haven't done (revaluations of intangibles, that is). I strongly doubt that they will start revaluations now as all that would do is push up the following years' depreciation charges.

Agreed. They'd also end up reporting a lower profit if the player was eventually sold (for example, in the accounts for 2013 I would expect to see a profit on player disposals of about £1.3 million (Noone, and possibly Dobbie)).

Yes, they would report a lower profit when the player was sold. In the season that the revaluation was done however, they'd have a one-time kicker to profit. It would be one way of meeting FFP requirements (illegitimately imo, but legal) if operationally things were tight. They'd pretty much have to revalue every player though; the auditors probably wouldn't let them revalue some players but not others. I don't expect to see the club deliberately change their accounting policies just to meet FFP though; I think they genuinely want to run a decent ship, and accounting policy changes just paper over the cracks.

I'll take your word on possible sale profits for 2013; I have no real data on that.

Just listened to your conversation on the Albion Roar and must say you came across as an ok person and was great entertainment to the listener, well from my point of view anyway. Could of listened for hours.
