There is absolutely nothing radically left about the Democrats.
The two main parties in the US are centre right and far right. The dems aren't even in the centre really

It shows how much the 'Overton window' has shifted. Same as here when right-wing nutjobs describe Starmer's Labour as 'communists'.

It's an interesting conundrum. In a world with deep-fakes and fake news and bots and AI etc etc. it's almost certainly the case that some of the things we're presented with aren't real.

In this instance an initial response of "perhaps it isn't real" was brushed aside with a 10 second Google search but that won't always be so, I fear. Not to mention there'll be people out there who have that "it's fake" thought and refute any evidence to the contrary regardless because it doesn't fit with their worldview.

Basically - truth is dead and as a species we're probably f***ed.

The Neo-Luddites might be the sensible ones.

What power do these celebrities have then ? If trumpy pumpy wanted to fck with them he could, easily.
You said they have “zero power” , I disagree. The rich and famous in the US have varying degrees of connection and power. In a straight head-2-head Trump will most likely win, but to say they have zero power is not, imho, correct.

Interesting shares in defence contractors such as Lockeed Martin, Northup, L3 Harris and General Dynamics are all up this week.

A more peaceful world is coming apparently

Problem is, to understand the very obvious truth of this you need some interest in, and knowledge of, the rest of the world. Also at least a very basic understanding of economics and politics. To the majority of the world labelling the Democrats as 'radical left' is to put a neon sign over your head saying 'gullible idiot'.

Which is not to say I can't understand why people voted for Trump. When you are angry and want change, and the alternatives are a centre right party, with a strong elitist flavour, offering more of the same, vs someone promising change, no matter how weird, unconvincing and downright nasty, that second choice will become saleable. And Trump/Musk/Putin have a good sales team.

There are clear warning signs for UK Labour in trumps victory, coinciding with the rise of Kemi Badenoch. Which, based on recent history, I fear will not be heeded.

You’ve read some stuff on Twitter and don’t get what’s happening and how we have to draw the line somewhere to stop going too far with this woke nonsense. Glad Trump got in for this reason, and to stop radical leftists who can’t answer what a women is into power. Plus the meltdown and assumptions are fun.
Just to clarify - are you saying you're glad Trump got in for the benefit of women's rights?

The US has had inflation which has been a global problem but unlike the UK it was less severe and in the past few years it has had decent economic growth, but has it been shared? The problem is someone who lives in Detroit remembers earning $15 an hour in the 80’s on the Autoline and now they see their kids earn the same in Walmart. Inequality has got worse and worse and the billionaires just take more and more of the pie. Neither party seems capable or really wants to sort this, Trump certainly won’t solve it and is in the pockets of the oligarchy some of which own the media which can be skewed in his favour.

Here the US’s protectionist stance on trade won’t go well for us. Starmer needs to be brave and at the right moment announce will we re-join the EU customs at the earliest opportunity. Labour are addressing a lot of issues but economically we’re stuck in doldrums.

Yes, America hasn't had homophobia and racism before yesterday

Quite, Ill take things that didn't happen for 100 please.

Going to be enough to go at the Trumpster for over the next 4 years I imagine, no need to make stuff up
The sign incident happened. I'm all for calling out misinformation but it literally happened.

How wonderfully ironic that you read it like that Orange. I would say that if somebody genuinely cared about women's safety and women's rights, they wouldn't be pointing at the tiny problems caused by these trans debates that we haven't worked through yet, they'd be focussing on the fact that the biggest threat to women is men. And the biggest threat to their rights is facism and the far right.

I'm sure you already know the numbers, but 1 in 30 women are raped every year in this country. ONE IN THIRTY. How many do you think are raped by trans people? No idea either, but I reckon it's something like one in a million, and yet that is the thing some people concerned about to 'make female spaces safe'. It is an absolute certainty that women get attacked in female only spaces by men far, far more often than they will by trans people.

So if you cared about women Orange, genuinely cared, then you'd want to be solving the men problem before you worry about the trans problem.

I have spent my adult life championing women, I grew up in a house with five sisters and have watched them have half the opportunities I have had, simply by nature of their gender. But at no point in their combined 208 years have they had any issue with their rights or safety being infringed on due to trans people. There amount of total arsehole men that have f***ed them about, including beating them is almost uncountable. Women are twice as likely as men to have an adverse drug reaction - why? Because even in 2024, drug dosage is based on the average man, and does not take into account differences in the female phsyiology. Women are 50% more likely to be seriously injured in a car accident - why? Because crash test standards in most places still only use crash test dummies based on men. That's because it's more expensive to do all those tests again and change stuff so it's safer for women. Even the furniture in the street - the step depth, the door handles, all of it - is designed for a six-foot, right-handed male. The world doesn't give a shit about women.

Sorry for the arsey post, I'm sure you're a good guy all told. I just think it's pathetic people are focussing on the trans debate like it's an issue. In my opinion it's not even worth talking about (in the scheme of problems faced by women)
All this may be true, but it is also missing the point.

Trans women are not a threat to women, as a rule, except on the sports field and perhaps other fields where their extra strength is a risk. But what is a danger, is men who pretend to be trans women. It should be stating the obvious, but it is not possible to trust a sex offender. A male sex offender may very well claim to be a trans woman if he thought it would help him commit his offences.

There is no test to test whether someone claiming to be a trans woman is an actual trans woman, or whether he/she is a man pretending to be a trans woman. That's why JK Rowling is so determined to keep trans women out of women-only refuges; because to allow trans women in, is to allow men in.

Typically going through the process to get a GIC referral (6+ year waiting list for a first appointment btw) and hormones prescribed before we even get to discussing surgeries would be a pretty good test as its a massive commitment and lifestyle change.

Personally I woud love to see that - but it's not going to happen anytime soon - however many times you repeat yourself.

No need to apologise @FatSuperman, as you are clearly passionate about your opinions in a way that I am not, I think you are just reading far too much into the very little I have said.

I've quoted my previous posts for clarity.
❤️❤️✌️

I’d be interested in your reflections. Whilst I agree with most of your post, willingly placing biological males into female-only spaces simply does have consequence whether you like it or not, and it’s something that can be solved easily.

I haven't said there are no consequences mate. I'm saying it's ridiculous that it gets this much press coverage and social media attention given the scale of the issue. Where is your concern about the massive number of issues biological men cause women?

"Yeah malaria is bad, but this one person in Belgium got a really rare illness"

In fact that's a good case in point:
  • Malaria deaths each year - 410,000
  • Ebola deaths in the entirety of human history - less than 20,000
And yet the noise about Ebola was deafening. Oh and by the way, of those annual malaria deaths, 275,000 of them are children.

Even as someone that didn't want Trump, Sone of these meltdowns appearing online are hilarious, why would you film yourself doing this?

Arguably better than being part of a violent mob invading and wrecking a government building, with the intention of harming people unless they change the result of an election

Less risk of jail time, too

Both of these posts are true
