Teddy,naming a bear,after Mohammed is against the 'Koran' ? I believe,or what i have been told.

The law is, as I understand it, that naming an inanimate object after the prophet Mohammed is creating an image of the prophet which is illegal under their laws.

Thats top end Daily mail stuff that.

You will of course remind us all of the 2 cases you have in mind..... i.e. The child killer getting a lighter sentence than the dog kicker.

Any crime that involves killing or injuring an animal involves a ban from keeping animals. If you kill or injure a child, you don't get banned from having another one.

Most of the crimes against animals results in sentences of around 4-12 months, depending on severity. Crimes against children invariably result in mental health referrals to secure units, not prison sentences, arguably far lighter than serving a sentence in a prison for killing or injuring an animal.

Invariably result in mental health referrals to secure units.......................... is about right if thats where they should be.

but I would have thought that the majority of child killers are sent to prison.

If I am wrong I am sure you will have some figures.

Not to hand, no. But then again we all have the power of Google, and this is NSC after all. Searching for "child killer psychiatric unit" brings up nearly a million hits, and the first few stories seem to explain it quite well.

I have sympathy for the teacher she probably did not realise just how mental these people are.

Why though anyone would want to go and work in these god forsaken places is beyond me.

Why would any sane person elect to live in a country that behaves like that.
Muslims are for the most part nutters of the highest order.

I,d like to agree with you,...........but you have a far higher opinion of Muslims than I do.

what I am saying is that if you make a claim you may be asked to back it up with some facts. I agree some sentences for crimes against children should be longer but then again I think all violent crime should be dealt with with a much sterner sentencing policy.

I am disputing the fact that we let people get off lightly when they play the trump card of mental responsibilty. It may be that they should be in a hospital. Lets face it most child killers are probably ill but that doesn`t say they spend a couple of months in a comfy dorm, do a couple of tests for the doctors and then stroll back into society.

If I may add a slightly different slant to this. She wasn't out there helping the underprivileged children.
The Unity school is for ex pats' and wealthy Sudanese Coptic Christian children.

Oh....well that puts a completely different slant on it. She deserves all she gets then. Ex-pats and wealthy Sudanese Coptic Christian children....whatever next...!

Because they get very handsomely paid for it perhaps ?

I've always been an adherent of the "When in Rome" school of thought and, well yes, she broke a Stone Age law in a Stone Age country and probably didn't know anything about it - which is no defence. However it is, of course, a huge over-reaction which the rabid muslims will use to say that the West is totally against them. What they SHOULD do is quietly expel her but I am certain that they'll make an example of her and lash her. At which time the consul should quietly pack his bags and the British gov't should break off diplomatic relations.
Mind you though what do we export from sudan - sand ?
And then the world will cry that we're depriving the sudanese of money and we'll go back and give them another few million quid - cos we've got a weak feeble gov't

To be fair to the Sudanese, they do export the odd terrorist too.

She should be got out of Sudan at once, diplomatically or otherwise with as little fuss as possible.

Crowds of men gathering outside the prison where she is being held?

Lashes for an innocent mistake such as this? Get her out now.

Meanwhile in Dubai DJ legend Grooverider has been incarcerated for bringing a couple of joints worth and some hardcore DVDs into the country. Looking at a 4 year stretch I'd reckon.

That's a different thing entirely, and to be fair, if he did what you said, then he's a moron.

Totally different mentality which has a lot to do with the problems worldwide. In this instance just plain barbaric imo, I'm sure they don't remotely see it that way. After all it's only a woman.

You really wonder if there is any point in crossing the worlds of the west with the ancient Muslim world.

I guess the real problem is where we import many thousands ( I know not every Muslim ) of like minded people from their world to ours.

We fund their City Mosques and then look aghast as their Imans spout vile propaganda to young 2nd generation Asians, who many have empathy with 'Twin Towers' & 'London Bombings' etc.

Its madness.

Yet even on this thread we can find apologists and a liberal understanding of why a British Woman might of deserved being flogged because she allowed a class within a secular school to name a f***ing teddy bear Mohammed.
