I would but it would be all too obvious where I got my information from and I'm not that stupid. Not would you be I suspect if you had 20+ people living next door to you, most of whom are young men, whose culture, beliefs, attitudes and appreciation of the proper boundaries in society are so very different to your own.
I have to say, I was flippant in my reply to you, on this post.
I can see that it could potentially be an issue, but what is it you're actually worried about? Do you feel threatened, etc?

It was said on this thread that they all claim asylum and so they profess to be asylum seekers, not economic migrants If that is true I don't see why they don't claim asylum in the first country where they are safe from persecution.
I know you don't...but it's not about what you can 'see', is it?

The safest solution for them would be to claim asylum in the first safe country and not hand money to traffickers and risk their lives crossing the Channel. Do you not agree?
Not necessarily. They might only speak English, they might be fleeing persecution by people with links to other countries, there can be a million reasons why. Your eulogising from your ivory tower ignores the reality of the world.

or they may be economic migrants who prefer to enter illegally and claim asylum than to apply for residence visas.

I may be being a bit naive here but wouldn’t it make sense for the French to agree to us having border guards, to supplement their own patrols on the beaches where the boats are, predominately, launched from or has Brexit scuppered that? Surely, if the gangsters launching the boats realised it would be stopped, that would lead to proper vetting of claims, which IMHO, should be carried out in a UK designated area in France. The UK cost of providing the resources and the holding areas for this would be worth it. As I said before, I think that Brexit has exacerbated the problem as there used to be French Customs at our Channel Ports.

Do you not see the irony of someone who chose to emigrate saying that people seeking asylum shouldn't also have the right to choose where they live?
When I chose to emigrate I went through the process of applying for a residence visa in the country where I wished to live. I did not enter the country illegally and claim asylum.
No irony at all.

I’m assuming you can evidence that statement.

I think the French would, but perhaps HMG are not keen on spending the money on it, probably considering it is France's problem. Which in some respects it is. A problem they address by doing what we are doing - avoiding spending money on it. Stalemate.
