I didn't say it was my problem. I was commenting and asking questions. I have family in the UK and I am a UK citizen so your xenophobic response is unwarranted.
Xenophobia
having or showing a dislike of or prejudice against people from other countries.

Not applicable to the posts to you.

the deteranet clearly dont work so needs a different approach. people are risking med crossing or overland routes through Turkey and Balkans, they are not put off by tales of long wait times, Rwanda and other parts of a hostile policy, if they even know of them at all.
The biggest deterrent for illegal migrants would be if they knew with absolute certainty that wouldn't be offered such a cushy existence when they arrived, and had to live on their own money. Instead we feed them. clothe them, keep them warm, offer them Legal Aid, cheap loans and Council support for years and turn a blind eye to them working illegally. And in many cases we then allow them to bring in all sorts of family members as well. No wonder this country is in such a state and our elderly people often have to sell all they own to pay for their own care. We really need to decide where our priorities lie.

Looking around Europe I don't think it's working particularly well anywhere. Whats your solution to reduce/stop all these migrant crossings?
You won’t stop them. Humans have moved around the globe throughout history. Look how many white people live in America, Canada as opposed to native Americans.
Then there’s Australia, New Zealand etc.
Romans Vikings Saxons, Jutes, Danes, Normans etc all moved here.

Why should they travel through multiple safe countries in order to claim asylum?
Answering a question with another question is not an answer.

Not one word of that is true.

"So, it’s nothing to do with you, putting it politely as you emigrated to Portugal."
A prejudiced comment made because I am a Porruguese resident.
It's not xenophobia though which is dislike or hatred of people from another country. You're not from there. You live there.

It absolutely is in many instances from what my Afghan neighbours have told me (off the record); and I would never make such claims lightly. I'll leave it there as I've no wish to enter into a debate about this particular aspect of illegal immigration because it annoys the hell out of me. Suffice it to say I stand by my view that this country is far, far too soft in its approach to illegal immigrants.

The xenophobic comment was "So, it’s nothing to do with you, putting it politely as you emigrated to Portugal."

Xenophobic because I'm a Portuguese resident and so, seemingly, must not be allowed to comment.
It's not xenophobia.

Learn and understand the meanings of words before you start throwing them around.

If I were lucky enough to be living in the gorgeous place that is Portugal, the last thing I'd be doing is arguing the toss on a Brighton football forum, about the legalities of asylum seekers coming to the UK.
Go enjoy the day, for gawd's sake. :)
