Not all, but plenty are. Our local parish conducts 6 masses every weekend, across 2 churches. Most are full enough for some people to need to stand. That's just the Catholic ones - of course there are many other Christian churches in the area, too.

Church attendance is actually higher now, than a decade ago in most parts of the country.

You're basically talking rubbish and making yourself look like a retarded bigot. Happy Christmas though.

That is what i thought, essentially you have answered a question of mine, however overall numbers must be down to just above all time low levels?

Maybe the trend is on the increase again, and there are many modern churches too.

I really don't think that most people who celebrate Christmas and call themselves christian go to church once a month. Are you sure.?

I never said that. What I said was, that there are perfectly logical reasons that churches are fuller at Christmas, and it doesn't mean people have just come out of the woodwork. I am talking about people who DO go to church, I have no idea (and neither do you) about those who claim to be Christian but don't.

I just find it sad that so many so called christians only ever go to church at christmas. Somewhere nice to sign carrols i guess. Go in feb there will be 6 people in the congrigation if you are lucky.

So why do you find it sad...does it affect your enjoyment of life, impact on your well being...that sort of thing?

I am just interested as to why you made the comparison to Islam.

If Christianity, and I do not profess to be a practicing Christian, is in decline, why is it that when the soviet union disbanded, the people rebuilt the churches and flock to services each and every day, and you can say the same about eastern Europe and south America.......personally I am a heathen....I love the ideas of Greek gods and that you have to be nice to everyone as the gods walk amongst us and you never know who you are dissing.

Immigration from Poland has boosted Catholic congregations in some areas.

", Poland is overwhelmingly Roman Catholic. In 2007, 88.4% of the population belonged to the Catholic Church.[104] Though rates of religious observance are lower, at 52%[105] to 60%,[106] Poland remains one of the most devoutly religious countries in Europe"

Russia has about 100 million christians. The Russian Orthodox church is second only to the Roman Catholic Church.

Im afraid the churches are one generation from being wiped out and turned into houses or flats. no one goes anymore. I'm afraid to say more people go to mosques in this country nowadays than churches.

My parish is busier than it was 20 years ago so this is not a fact

It doesn't affect me or my life. I wasn't compareing christianity to islam i was just trying to point out that im sure that most people that call themselves muslim attend the mosque on a weekly basis where as so called christians do not. I would love to be able to call myself a christian but i do not as i dont attend church regular and do not want to be hypicryticle. So i live by the values of Treat everyone how you would like to be treated yourself. or as they are a greek god i guess.
