I love this qoute :
"Jim West, a professor and Baptist pastor in Tennessee, said: "A statement on a papyrus fragment isn't proof of anything. It's nothing more than a statement 'in thin air', without substantial context."

Surely thats the entire Bible

I would have thought that it's a statement on a papyrus fragment which is most certainly not thin air.

As a Jewish man and a rabbi it would have been most unusual at that time if Jesus WASN'T married.

The fragment is fascinating. Is it a copy of an older text? Most of these sorts of documents tend to be copies, rather than original texts.

Some scholars believe that the Wedding at Cana was, indeed, Jesus's own wedding and that the original early Christian texts have been rewritten to try and mask this.

It certainly makes some sense. It was at Cana that Jesus turned water into wine, and who traditionally is responsible for drinks at a social gathering? Mein host...

Jesus never existed. It's a myth. There is no place left in society for religion. It is the cause of every war.

Never mind religion, what about plain and simple history? We know that he actually existed from other source documents, but information about his life outside of the New Testament is scant.

I don't see how jesus being married would mean women would have been treated equally, had they known. http://www.nobeliefs.com/DarkBible/darkbible7.htm

The God of the Bible decrees that woman must submit to the dominance of man.

"The social and legal position of an Israelite wife was inferior to the position a wife occupied in the great countries round about... all the texts show that Israelites wanted mainly sons to perpetuate the family line and fortune, and to preserve the ancestral inheritance... A husband could divorce his wife; women on the other hand could not ask for divorce... the wife called her husband Ba'al or master; she also called him adon or lord; she addressed him, in fact, as a slave addressed his master or subject, his king. The Decalogue includes a man's wife among his possessions... all her life she remains a minor. The wife does not inherit from her husband, nor daughters from their father, except when there is no male heir. A vow made by a girl or married woman needs, to be valid, the consent of the father or husband and if this consent is withheld, the vow is null and void. A man had a right to sell his daughter. Women were excluded from the succession."

-Roland de Vaux, archaeologist and priest

Jesus having a wife would not have changed things for women, imo, given attitudes throughout the bible.

Here we go again... but you are Wrong on every count except possibly one.
Jesus did exist. What would be in dispute is whether he was actually the "Son of God", or just another religious zealot of the time.
There is every place in society for religion as a force for good. Most good work and volunteering in our country is done by people of faith, and if it was not for volunteering, our society would fall apart at the seams.

Admittedly religion - or more likely fundamentalism, which could be seen as different - is a major issue im wars at the moment, but how did religion contribute to the start of the Second World war, or the First World war?
