How odd. It’s lovely to have my name up in lights but I’m voting Labour at the next election……

But you believe that Is it PotG? has 'hit a nerve' and hasn't made a complete fool of himself with this thread ?

I'm not surprised you are voting Labour at the next election, even as you have stated numerous times that you are a traditional conservative. I've always thought that you're quite a moralistic person and have recognised that this Government has gone way beyond a right/left thing

I don't think I will though, as I certainly wouldn't want to be accused of an immature red/blue bias

Once again, you seem to have an understanding shortfall. All of us, including you, have prejudices and your comments come across as sanctimonious (not lies) when you seem to try and seize some 'impartial high ground' by claiming you don't care about something when you obviously do!

This has absolutely nothing to do with 'lying', 'purity' or 'rights' - that is just hyperbolic (self pitying?) nonsense that undermines your argument still further ....

You accused me of being ‘disingenuous.’ Do you know what it means ? That’s what I was responding to. As to the rest of your post. Goodness. I just dropped in to remark on the strong views aroused by a non story. You seem to have confirmed that view.

He does seem to have a superiority complex.

But why does he award a thumbs up to his opponents? Is it sarcasm? Contempt? Something else?
One possibility is that he needs a reaction. Any reaction, and he doesn't care whether it is favourable or not.
Another possibility is that he's letting them know he's reading their replies, but does not wish to engage in debate with them.

Of course, if he did engage, he would be running the risk of losing his own argument. By not engaging, he can convince himself he has won the argument.

I don't know of course but I think the issue might be 'doublethink'....

I think he has done both

.. for one who 'genuinely doesn't give a damn', you have expended some time and a little effort writing about it, suggesting your comments are a bit disingenuous....

...and you seem to be confirming that view!

It's easily done, as an MP Johnson accidently claimed the cost of a Remembrance Sunday wreath on his Commons expenses.

When Foreign Secretary he accidently took too long to register nine outside payments equalling £53,000.

Lastly (and unfortunately) Boris Johnson accidently broke City Hall rules by failing to transfer his emails as mayor to Greater London Authority officers when he left office.

A trifling administrative oversight that hampered the investigation into his alleged affair with US entrepreneur Jennifer Arcuri.

Easily done.

Am I not allowed on the thread then ? Let me speak clearly for you. I don’t give a damn about Starmer’s administrative error. I did make that very clear in my original post. Most of the rest of my time on this thread has been spent addressing your concerns.

The trouble is we live in a country where the right wing press are disproportionately powerful, biased beyond shame and desperate to draw some sort of equivalence between the opposition and the most tawdry of governments we’ve ever seen.

Starmer needs to be whiter than white. Personally I think this will damage him

Still NSC does it's best to address the difference :)

I am sorry you posted that sentiment. Your comment is now clear.

I am sure you recognise the thread set out to be mischievous and was criticised for that reason.

Although the specific post may seem trivial, an inference that there is equivalence between Starmer and Johnson's behaviour is an insult to intelligence and therefore requires robust pushback, not 'don't give a damn' indifference.... and I am not an habitual Labour voter!

What’s he done?

Whatever it is, he can just stay in his job no matter what though, yes?

Isn’t that what politicians do now?

If the PM can do it, everyone else can. Yes?

Do you see where the country is going / has arrived at?

I hadn't thought of that, but it is a plausible conclusion.

It's funny isn't it ?

When Johnson does something "wrong" it's that's just Boris, he's apologised , move on.

When Starmer does something wrong he's accused of hypocrisy.

So what's going on here ?

The people I speak to who "support" Johnson, invariably say they "like" him.

Which is odd on two counts.

1) They've never met him.

2) They are waves of people in public life who have worked with him (often successfully) who really don't like him at all.

The same with Corbyn, one of Johnson's "strengths" is he manages to garner "friendship" from people who don't know him, are willing to put aside his numerous and obvious faults and are easily offended by any mention of them.

His strategy is to appeal to the weaknesses in his supporters personalities.

The desperation to try to tar Starmer with something, in fact anything, is truly pitiful. The Tory agenda seems to be trying to create a " They are all the same " narrative..

...the problem is, if Starmer has done anything wrong he will take it on the chin rather than try to change the rules.

No worries. And yes, of course the OP was being mischievous. I think that was the intention.
