id agree with that too...i do all those things except smoke !...does that make me uninteresting ! all the things i do dont do damge to others though

I didn't say you had to do ALL of those things to be interesting :lolol:. I do find the health nazi, lentil eating brigade who lecture you about how to live your life are the most CRUSHINGLY boring people on this planet. Also it is possible to get cancer if you DON'T smoke which I am sure the education being given out makes younger people think ONLY people who smoke will get cancer. Of course it is not a healty pastime but many things are not. You take your choices and take your chances. The thing is that now you can't take your choices or take your chances anymore. Everything that is deemed to be bad for you is subjected to some Nazi sytle campaign to make people change if not by will by force and law making. That as a supposedly free society is what I object to most. I know many people in middle age who have died young, some gym addicts, non smokers, teetotalers who eat government approved food products and still drop dead of cancer, heart attack and the like. Its very random and people can produce as many statistics as they like but the only sure fire statistic I can give you is WE ALL WILL DIE whatever we do and that is something the government or health guru's will never eliminate.

The point seems to go blissfully over your head. You are correct, this is about choice, but what you ignore completely is the choice of those not to smoke. In this particular argument, it is about the choice of children not being subjected to second hand smoke just because their dumbfuck of a parent is exercising their 'civil liberties' in the kingdom of their car.
Also, where has anyone said you won't get cancer if you don't smoke. I have never seen that in any promotion/advertising or health campaign. It is all about reducing the risk where you can.

Perhaps if you had a limb amputated you would live to tell the tale but I suspect given the choice you would prefer to have all four still attached and working. So does it make any difference if the damage is being done internally?

You seem to pigeonhole together everybody who agrees with the principle as if we are all potheads. I agree with a ban in cars when there are children in the car but I don't do drugs, other than alcohol. And before you bang on about that, I don't become aggresive when under the influence unlike plenty of morons that do.

REply from Block F
Slight tongue in cheek Drew....but only slight.Trouble is with banning everything, the kind of people who habitually smoke in their cars with kids in them are unlikely to 'respect' the law. The guys who just want to have a fag in their car whilst on their own will more than likely be the ones caught by our brave boys in blue looking for an easy box tick.
P.S On a general point,we are all living longer according to the mortality tables used by the Annuity companies, and we surely don't want to legislate against all risk in life....even for the interfering, but well meaning lefties like your goodself that would be a step too far!.....I hope!!!:lolol:For God's sake how many new laws have Labour passed since coming to power??

Another dumb quote. See below.

Sorry, that sort of honesty isn't welcome here.

I will be banned from smoking in my car and I travel on my own and have no kids.

Much as I disagree iwth smoking in public why make a law that is practically unenforceable. How many times do you seee somebody driving whilst having a phone to their ear and holding it with one hand and driving or steering with the other but nobody gets nicked for it as they dont do it when old bill are about. It doesnt stop people doing it just makes them a little more selective as to when.

If you want to reduce the risk of anything nasty happening you can lie in your bed and never venture out of the house as I said we should be able to assess the risks and make our own informed choices not be dictated to a the health nazi's.

In all seriousness I believe some kids will actually think the causes and chances of cancer are only applicable if you smoke. That is my point.

The Nazi's are up to over 44%

The driver certainly should not be allowed to smoke whilst driving. I think it is illigal to smoke and drive in the same way that eating crisps or an apple is. People have been fined and have receved points on their licences for such offences

You can't legislate for stupidity the sort of parent who smokes with kids in the car is the same person who probably does countless other things which are not deemed the social ideal. What annoys me is the constant stream of do this do that campaigns and laws you are exposed to on a daily basis.

Don't drink this, eat that, five of this a day how retarded is this country when we can't trust people to make up their own decisions based on the information at hand.

Take the smoking ban clearly passive smoking is an issue and you would have to live under a rock to not know of the impacts. A simple solution would be to have smoking and non smoking pubs so people have a clear choice but no out comes the hammer to crack a nut.

Lets ban smoking in cars then we can get on with legislating against changing CD's, eating apples, talking to passengers, checking your hair in the mirror and adjusting the heating.

This country...............

Eating and drinking are illegal whilst driving as i imagine is checking ones hair.
If seen lighting a cig whilst driving by a policeman/policewoman you will be nabbed and rightfully so

at work they have placed large A5 notices on the hot water urns in the kitchens warning us of the HOT water contained within. yes, with the added emphasis just incase anyone is unclear.

i honestly dispair of where we are heading sometimes.

Count yourself lucky you have such thoughtful employers as our tea urn has no such warning clearly an accident waiting to happen.

Rolling a cigarette whilst driving should be banned. Try doing it on a bicycle and lighting it with matches in a breeze.
