FIFA need to make a call, because as it stands Poland will be disqualified

I’d love to be proved wrong but FIFA has thrived from backing countries like Russia, what has Poland ever done for them?

FIFA of course aren’t renowned for taking the right moral stance on things, but I think they have little choice on this one. The entire world seems to have taken a dim view of Russia’s actions and even their own allies are refusing to stand with them.

The discontent of the Russian people is one of the few tools the west has at this moment in time, and I think in many ways the nation’s complete exclusion from the global sporting scene could be more impactful upon the average Russian on the street than any official sanction governments have imposed so far.

This, regrettably, seems inevitable. Putin will not lose this war (at least in the military sense) - the stronger the Ukrainian resistance, the stronger the Russian retaliation will be. For stronger, you can also read more indiscriminate, as thermobaric weapons are. He seems solely focused on winning this war, at any humanitarian cost.

That is, worryingly, a Hitler-seque mentality.

Is there going to be a level of atrocities where we do get involved militarily - maybe in the air - public opinion is really strong in support of Ukraine right now, it wouldn't be an unpopular move, at least in Europe.

Sadly, that is guaranteed. Putin won’t bat an eyelid. The Ukrainians won’t be quitting and Putin will ramp it up. This could all go horribly wrong for everyone. It IS going to escalate imo

As much sympathy as the public have with Ukraine, if it came down to a vote that put us in danger, it would never happen. They are on their own unfortunately and many many more will die [emoji17]

think a little deeper. you're sent off to liberate fellow Slavs from western control, to re-establish a great Russian empire. you get there and find they are not throwing flowers to liberators but shooting back. i'd say thats not what you sign up for but as a conscript you didnt. so you've been sent to shoot the people suppose to help? not going to be enthusiatic about the job at the very least, and even the professionals will be wondering whats going on.

Mrs Raymondo has been watching videos on Ukrainian social media taken by locals. Many Russian soldiers taken prisoner are late teens... had no idea what they were being sent into, and now scared as shit. Seems like the mighty Russian army have sent in Putin's Youth first, to guage the dangers. Fvck you, Putin and your supporters.

Aah, thank you so much, we'll take a look. Mrs Raymondo has just spoken with 15 year old niece in Zaporozhye: their dad forcefully conscripted (probably willingly) this a.m., after a knock on the door... he's 56 years. That leaves 2 teen girls at home, caring for a gran with dementia, will rely on neighbours for help with food, baking bread etc. A microcosm of reality on the ground, repeating for many 000s of families across the country. They are putting up one hell of a fight.
