Poland have announced they will NOT play the World Cup play off match against Russia.

It’s refreshing and slightly surprising to see the strong and unified stance top sport has taken against this. It’s rare for politics to greatly interfere with sport beyond the odd slogan on a t-shirt or symbolic gesture; but the fact that associations are prepared to spite themselves for the greater good is a reminder that this is the most significant political event in at least a generation.

Good on them.

As suspected, this is very much a Putin thing. I feel sorry for Russians in general, they must be utterly ashamed.

“Now an adviser to the Kremlin - Andrey Kortunov, Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) - has told the BBC his advice was that the Russian invasion of Ukraine was not justifiable.

He said many of his colleagues in the foreign ministry were also “very surprised, shocked and even devastated” to see what was happening.”

FIFA need to make a call, because as it stands Poland will be disqualified

A little to see the some proganda, however after about 5 mins of lies, I turn it back over, as it makes me angry all the lies!!!!!!

Yep, clear propaganda, but I'm not naive enough to think that this doesn't happen on both sides. Nick Robinson on BBC radio is almost unlistenable to me.

Well, that’s the end of him.

2 contrasting pictures. 1 from my wife's home city, Mariupol, under constant bombardment. The second is Instagram of Abramovichs daughter.

Would be naive to think there are no US covert operatives in there - not saying that is wrong either by the way, I'm sure useful information is being gained as to how good/bad/indifferent the Russian Army is. I think indifferent is probably the call given such overwhelming firepower...

There are currently two USAF KC-135 tankers over Romania and one appears to have just refuelled a USAF F-16CM (which I think is the Countermeasure variant) flying a pattern over there too. Yesterday there was a NATO badged AWACs over there too.
Now they *might* just be keeping an eye on things but they may also be passing on info to Ukranian ground/air forces enabling them to target incoming aircraft. It's not beyond the bounds of possibility that there are "Military advisors" from other nations on the ground too.

The fact that they are "live" on flightradar probably means they want the Russians to know they have eyes on.

A Russian cargo ship seized in the English Channel. Sky a bit hazy on whether the source of this news is Russia (the presenter) or France (the ticker tape).

Seized by the French and taken to Boulogne, thought to be carrying cars and owned by a company subject to EU sanctions

Auction off the cars and use the proceeds to pay to house and feed the coming Ukrainian refugees.

If you invade a country you need overwhelming air power ….. which appears to be missing. It’s all about the army but very little about the Russian Air Force which is very weird.

I suspect that there is a lot of countermeasures coming into play looking disrupt communication channels and as you say give heads up when any aircraft are in bound.

Yesterday ITV News reported on Russian health ministry documents appearing to reveal Moscow's preparations for mass casualties in the conflict that would require the drafting of doctors.

Hardly an indicator that it’s all going to plan.

Ireland waives all visa requirements for Ukrainians fleeing the conflict (something the UK Government has shamefully refused to do)

As you say, shameful. Doesn't the 'hostile environment' make you feel proud

This is frightening, these are lethal. Thermobaric missiles. Cause huge fireballs and can penetrate under ground. Used in Aleppo Syria to devastating effects. CNN recorded on a truck near belgorad (in Russia near Kharkiv) Backed in the corner, hell hath no fury like a cornered dictator?O maybe no fury like a just God and whole world watching this murderous tyrant.
