Is Belarus next?

The US state dept is urging all Americans to leave Belarus immediately.

Elsewhere, the Kyiv Post reports that Belarusian propagandists claim the Belarusian opposition is planning to invade the country from abroad and instigate a coup.

Watch Jake Broe from 20:48.

Interesting thought from Jake that, if it's true at all, it could be Belarussian activists from bordering countries coming in 🤔.
Could just be Lukashenko warning any citizens that oppose him/his party at the January elections...
Must be something though to have that warning from the US.

I saw something a few days ago, which may or may not be relevant.

It was that many Belarusians want to be in Poland. I didn't make anything of it, because I didn't see any significance in it. Why wouldn't they want to be in Poland and not Belarus? But in the context of Jake Broe's updates from the US State Dept and Lukashenko's odd behaviour, I'm now wondering.

That would be an interesting development. Similar to Georgia, the majority of the population seem to want a change of leadership. I wonder if simultaneous uprisings in Belarus and Georgia would over stretch Putin (accepting that they are relatively small countries).

Yes, resources are finite. A few weeks ago, Putin was overstretched in Syria. Today, the Georgians are out on the streets. I'm not sure if there is a Russian presence. But tomorrow, will Putin find the resources to quell a Belarusian spring?

You could be forgiven for thinking the Russian Federation is beginning to fray around the edges, and the frays are working their way ever closer to Moscow.

Don't discount Transnistria by the way. Russia is complaining about Nato moving weapons into neighbouring Moldova. It could be a Russian false flag of course.

I think the Russian or pro Russian presence in Georgia is currently the police/ military police that's loyal to the pro Russian government... until it isn't 🤞🏻

Worth remembering in the Second World War that both sides paused their bombing campaigns on Christmas Day

That said, isn’t Christmas on 6th January in the Russian Orthodox Church?
Yes I believe so - but Ukraine now has joined the Gregorian calendar to celebrate Xmas the same date as their allies 👍

Syria taught the lesson that Putin can no longer support his dictator buddies.

Lukashenko was always going to be the next domino to start tottering after the Syria domino crashed down.

The idea must have crossed every Belarusian mind that Putin is now unable to save Lukashenko.

So.... it could just happen.
