Tomorrow night is the optimum weather window for the tanks to roll.

Leave it too long and the armour will get stuck in the "mud of spring".

Ukrainians think it is their duty and destiny to defend their lands and will be hunting any Russians that come over the border.

It'll be a bloodbath, hundreds of thousands dead.

The sanctions will bring down Putin.

Like I've said before this war will be a godsend for both Biden and Boris. This is being orchestrated for the benefit of multiple ruling factions and a huge diversionary tactic to distract from the utter horror show that is infolding in domestic politics here, the US, China, etc

It’s interesting how this is panning out negotiation wise. Biden seems tone deaf but he does have some leverage regarding sanctions, Macron has some traction, I’m hoping Olaf Sholtz the same after today, Britain largely an irrelevance.

1. She described helping Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as "we are supplying and offering extra support into our Baltic allies across the Black Sea”. Except it is the Baltic Sea - the clue is in the name Baltic states.

2. Sergei Lavrov set her a trap and she fell straight into it. Lavrov had asked Truss whether the U.K. accepted that two Russian regions — Voronezh and Rostov — belonged to Russia and that Russia had the right to move troops and equipment to the areas. According to Russia’s Kommersant business daily, Truss replied that “​​the U.K. will never recognize Russian sovereignty over these regions.” Except they are in Russia.

Commentators said the British politician likely thought Lavrov was referring to Donetsk and Luhansk — the two breakaway regions of eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Russian separatists. Truss was quickly corrected by the British Ambassador in the meeting.

Boris - as we know - is already an international laughing stock and has been for years. Now, on the eve of a potential WW3, our foreign secretary is also a laughing stock. This is serious shit, and people in this country need to wake up to it.

except conflict in the Ukraine and subsequent effect on oil prices will make domestic politics much more difficult for both.

I don’t doubt an invasion will hasten the departure of Putin through sanctions. The worry is who comes next. Russia has enough nuclear weapons in its arsenal that if it falls to a political vacuum things could turn very sour very quickly.

Reckon Putin will complete his 10 days of exercises with Belarus then scuttle off back out of there, all the while claiming that the exercises were the reason they were on the Ukraine border all along. Maybe didn't expect his bluff to be called so strongly

I don’t agree. I am a fan of Biden but I don’t think he’s really listening to Russia, and all he’s it doing is making threats. What exactly do you mean by stepping up to the plate? Start listening? Or make even more threats.

Agreed. It’s not really a problem what Biden does as PUSA is a puppet role and he’s pulling no strings. Others will enforce sanctions on his behalf so there is some weight there.
We are being deliberately benched because both Truss and Boris are morons and because Russia has too much influence in British finance and politics. Plus the Tory’s have pissed off the EU. Basically nobody wants to play with the idiots.

He won’t ever look silly though. Whatever happens, in his own country, he will dress it up to look like some sort of victory for him. And the west will no doubt do the same.

Pathetic that with all we have been gifted on this planet, all the nature, resources. The intelligence and the breadth of knowledge we have. And we are still allowing a handful of psychopaths to run the show. We could be living a beautiful life on a beautiful planet and instead we are forever on the verge of destroying ourselves.

Some days I think “just get it over with then”.
