here's a good one not being repelled.

Well, if those drones can deliver bombs anything like as accurately as they can focus their camera lenses, they should cause a whole wodge of damage ....................................

(Speaking as one who wishes they'd sunk the whole fuckin' fleet).

Interesting read on how US experts prevented Putin destroying Ukrainian IT systems. Starting in Dec 2021.

Good article. I also read somewhere (I thought it was on the RUSI website but I can't find it now), that as Russia continues to lose ground in the areas it previously occupied, expect to see an increase in cyber-warfare and on other fronts in this hybrid war.

I’ve always felt increasingly against the West too, fuelled by Putin’s bitterness. He’d love all our ATM’s, card machines and energy grid IT systems to crash.

Here is an excellent speech transcript from a young Ukrainian war journalist, covering the war from the first day until last week. There is nothing 100% new in here, but I think it's an important summary of events and attitudes to date. If you can spare 15 minutes it's worth a read I think.

And as a consequence Vlad now lobbing missiles into Kyiv etc..
Salty Vlad was always going to chuck some missiles back.

The thing is that the ships targeted at Sevastopol were the ones firing alot of the Kalibr missiles at Ukraine anyway.

Now it's harder to target the long range bomber missile strikes, but sinking the naval missile launchers is surely a start to reduce the incoming missile load.

According to the journalist John Sweeney, Putin has been waging war on the west for more than a decade, with cyber crime, disruption, election/referendum rigging, you name it. It's just that the west didn't really 'notice' (=broadcast it). Once he invaded Ukraine, it became impossible to keep it under wraps, and since then, the world's media have got the ball and are knocking it around nicely.

Now that his three day 'special military operation' to take all of Ukraine, has descended into a ninth month of grind with Ukrainian troops slowly evicting him from the 20% of Ukrainian territory that he currently occupies, he's having to resort to a kaleidoscope of tactics, including mobilisation of reluctant civilians, long range missiles on soft civilian targets, weaponisation of energy and food, and stepping up disinformation and cyber crime on an epic scale. This could go on for quite a while.

Surely now Ukraine has the right and justification, not to invade Russia, but to warn her that if they continue to attack the electricity grid, Ukraine will tit-for-tat destroy their sub-stations? They could give warnings about the targets they were going for so that civilians could be evacuated from the plants so that there would be no - or minimal - loss of life that Russians could label as war.

Anyone else watch ITV South News this evening? A long feature on a load of Ukrainian refugee kids visiting our Lancing training ground, I think they were also taken to the Chelsea win. Fantastic by the club. They’re now Albion fans, getting to meet their heroes Sanchez and Trossard.

(No football interest) Mrs.W thought it was lovely and said “when are Ukrainians going to see peace”?

Well, the Sky News expert on the illegal invasion just gave an interesting synopsis. They’ve also have a special tomorrow evening. Loads of positives:

- (Don’t be fearful or obsessed with the threat of Belarus) because “Lukaskenko is incredibly unpopular in Belarus, 90% of their military would refuse to fight in Ukraine for Putin. Belarus already have a regiment fighting in Ukraine, for Ukraine”.
- If Putin fails in this war, Lukashenko will fall.
- Putin blocking grain and other reprisals, are desperate acts from the war going against him, the latest being the drone attacks on his Black Sea fleet. He’s trying to get the West to end its common voice.

Aside from that the main BBC1 news tonight interviewed a 75 year old Ukrainian woman who had her teeth knocked out, war slashed and raped by a Russian soldier. We must never forget the human cost, imposed by barbarians.

I agree that it seems unlikely that Belarus presents much of a threat to Ukraine. Maybe Belarus presents more of a threat to Russia - I’d be worried about how Putin would react if he loses both Ukraine and Belarus from Russia’s sphere of influence - an outcome that seems possible - having already pushed Finland to NATO.

I try not to worry, it’s just a personal thing that gets me through. Putin’s an evil KGB/FSB terrorist, a murderer and mass murderer.

He despises the West, he’d love to know that we are fretting, are concerned about his threats, are smiling and laughing less than we did. I’m relieved that most people are getting on with life’s pleasures, albeit with compassion and tangible help for Ukraine.

His finite war resources are being exhausted. Increasing amounts of high tech hardware and expertise from the free world are having a huge impact, this morning 44 out of 50 Russian cruise missiles were shot down. Videos of Russian aircraft being blown from the skies no longer appear on youtube, because their fearful to fly them.

That interview was utterly harrowing. We must never allow ourselves to gain any sort of mental immunity to their atrocities

They're having to recommission 40 or 50 year old Cold War tanks, helicopters and other hardware, sitting ducks for 21st Century US, Dutch, UK and Germany weaponry. Plus experienced crews are lost with every tank kill ... their tanks do not separate the ammunition store from the crew, the autoloader is found in the turret. The men are lost with the tank almost every time a Javelin scores a direct hit.
